Tips To Make Your PC Boot Up Faster

If your pc is taking ages to start up , then follow this advise to speed things along and get you going faster.

1. Uninstall Old Programs and Stop Unwanted Services From Starting.

The main culprit making a PC slow to boot is programs. If you have programs installed on your computer that you are no longer using , you should remove them.
These programs often have background processes running which not only uses your RAM but also takes time to load at start up.

A useful program I found is Tune Up Utilities. This program has a feature called start up manager which will allow you to stop unwanted programs from starting up when you turn on your PC. Not only that , but the software also identifies programs and processes which you should keep running. A free trail version is available HERE.

You can also do this in Windows Vista and Windows 7 by going to run in your start screen and typing in msconfig. Then go to the start up tab and deselect everything you don't want to have start when you start your computer.

If your run command is not visible , go to command prompt and type in msconfig.

2. Windows loading screen

You know that page with the animation? That takes forever right? You can actually remove it without much trouble and it will save about 10 seconds on your start up time. Here's what you do.

Go to run in your start screen and type in msconfig.
Go to the boot tab and select "noguiboot" checkbox.

This will cut the animation getting the computer to start faster. If you have a duel boot system , you can also set the timeout for that menu by making the timeout 3 seconds instead of 30 seconds.

3. Defrag and clean the Registry

Download a free program called CCleaner (HERE) and install it. This program will remove invalid registry entries. This will mean less time that the computer is looking through registry keys and thus improved start up and system performance. Just click "run cleaner" and it will automatically search for and remove invalid keys.

You may also want to defragment the registry. Open Tune Up Utilities and select all functions under the first window called "maintain system" and select "defragment registry".

This will also help a little for system performance and start up time.

4. Edit Your Bios

The bios by default contain some options that are redundant and can be switched off to save on start up time. For instance :

  • Make your first boot device your hard drive.
  • Select Quick boot or "do not check memory"
  • If you are using a graphics card , disable the on board as it's only using memory.
Following these few steps should save you about 30-45 seconds on start up and improve overall system performance.

Please rate this solution if you found it to be of help.

I need to speed up my computer

How old is it?
Has it slowed down with age?
All PCs get slower with use.
The cause could be many things.
There are programs that will marginally speed it up, but the best results will only be achieved by restoring it to it's original new condition.

extremely slow running

Slow computer If you have a virus program installed, it is most likely is running a scan on your hard disk. It can slow down your computer especially if you have a large hard drive. After scanning is completed then the computer will be faster.
To make your computer (hard disk) lean and mean, uninstall any programs you do not use.
Also you need to maintain your hard disk by running Disk Cleanup this will remove old temp files and old compressed files etc.
This will reduce the number of files the virus scanner has to scan. Plus running Defrag. this makes your files contiguous so the system can access files off the hard drive quicker because it does not work as hard.. Disk Cleanup and Defrag should be carried out at least once a month.
If you have 512Mb of RAM installed then installing more RAM will speed up your computer. After installing your graphics card, you may need to disable the built-in graphics card in the BIOS for the new graphics card to work properly.

my computer is very slow and I need not much time left standing

The reasons for a computer being slow could be either that you have a full hard drive low memory or possibly and more likely you have malware on it. first thing to do is run and anti malware program like Malware Bytes
Download the free version and allow it to update and run a scan. once this has been done your PC should run a lot faster.

If not check your hard drive free space if it is below 15% you need to delete some of your old files and programs to free up some more

My computer is really slow going into differnt sites....the compressor fan is slow to start up...had my computer stripped down and tuned up, but it's still slow...they said the cpu is showing its age, which is 5 years old......I love my computer..do I need a new cpu maybe...Thanks

Your computer going slow could be for the following reasons: 1 Not enough RAM - remove unwanted files by cleaning the disc. Also defragment the computer. Increase the RAM 2 Virus - remove the virus 3 If you do the above you will see the improvement and no need to have a new cpu

Have you tried to defrag the hard drive to condense your files?

A good site to go to is **** cleaner download. Once you've downloaded the program and set your preferences make sure that you run it at least twice a day. You will be amazed at the amount of **** that gets on your computer when you go online that wastes space on your hard drive.
