Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Windows 7. Is your computer compatible?

Windows 7 is the latest operating system developed by Microsoft. It was release a few months ago and in my opinion is one of Microsoft's top operating systems. It is fast, efficient and user friendly.

To check whether you can upgrade to Windows 7, the first thing you should do is download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. Save it to your desktop and run it. Follow the installation wizard to install it and then click to launch it. Remember to close all your applications before starting the compatibility check.

After the check completes you wil be presented with a list showing you whether your pc is compatible or not. Look specifically under devices compatibility. Programs is not so important but check to see if you use specific programs that are not compatble.

Also note that 1GHz processor and 1GB fo RAM is recommended for runnining Windows 7, but it can run with 512 or 756 MB RAM adequately.

As I said before Windows 7 is recommended if you are running XP and especially if you are running Vista!

i install today the least version of messenger11. after i install i cannot open my yahoo messger... it said cannot d3d9.dl cannot locate... i already retry to install but its the same problem what should i do now... i cannot use my yahoo messenger

If you've already downloaded d3d9.dll from one of those DLL download sites, remove it from wherever you put it and continue with these steps.
  1. Restart your computer if you haven't yet.

The d3d9.dll error might be a fluke and a simple restart could clear it up completely.

  2. Install the latest version of Microsoft DirectX. Chances are, upgrading to the latest version of DirectX will fix the d3d9.dll not found error.

Note: Microsoft often releases updates to DirectX without updating the version number or letter so be sure to install the latest release even if your version is technically the same.

Note: The latest version of DirectX should be installed no matter if you're running Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP. The installation may include DirectX10 and DirectX9 files but they run side-by-side without problem on all of these operating systems.

  3. Assuming the latest DirectX version from Microsoft doesn't fix the d3d9.dll error you're receiving, look for a DirectX installation program on your game or application CD or DVD. Usually, if a game or other program utilizes DirectX, the software developers will include a copy of DirectX on the installation disc.

Sometimes, though not often, the DirectX version included on the disc is a better fit for the program than the latest version available online.

  4. Uninstall the game or software program and then reinstall it again. Something might have happened to the program files that work with d3d9.dll and a reinstall could do the trick.

  5. Restore the d3d9.dll file from the latest DirectX software package. If the above troubleshooting steps haven't worked to solve your d3d9.dll error, try extracting the d3d9.dll individually from the DirectX downloadable package.

  6. Update the drivers for your video card. While it's not the most common solution, in some situations updating the drivers for the video card in your computer could correct this DirectX issue.
Applies ToThe d3d9.dll error message could apply to any program that utilizes Microsoft DirectX, most commonly video games. Any of Microsoft's operating systems since Windows 98 may be effected by d3d9.dll and other DirectX issues. This includes Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.

how to download windows os from the msdn in microsoft

I suspect you wanted windows 7 os from the msdn site. I ended up at the microsoft site by using the msdn other resources. They are no longer downloading windows 7 upgrade software. By clicking All Microsoft downloads go to downloads a-z. There you can find the version of XP or Vista download and simply run on your computer. The msdn is a developers site and really just focuses on the add-ons to the os. Not really the place to get an os.

wish to have latest xp genuine edition

If you mean Windows 7, it has not been released as of yet. I believe it won't be out until late 2009 or early 2010. If you want to read about it go to:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/

However if you are referring to Internet Explorer 7, you can download it from:
