Tip & How-To about Cameras

How to fix a lens that is stuck on a fujifilm finepix j30

I have the camera and found NOTHING helpful. my camera lens was stuck open and kept saying zoom error when i turned it on. i could veiw my pictures on the memory card but couldnt take pictures. after lots of research and no helpful answers. i started to play around with it and what worked was this.... I turned the camera on and tried wiggle the lens to the right to get it to close manually. it made a noise like it was trying to close. so i turned it off then on and and wiggled it to the right again. after doing this over and over a few times it finally closed. i turned the camera off and turned it back on and it opened and close by itself now its working just like before. i hope this was helpful and i hope you can fix your camera. i love my camera so i was willing to try almost anything. and they wanted to charge me 130 dollars to fix it. when i could have just went and paid 120 for the same exact camera brand spanking new. but i fixed mine and wanted to share seeing as how there was no other helpful information on this camera model and none of the other advice for other cameras worked.

My fujifilm finepix f60fd dropped one night and i tried to fix the lens. But now it wont allow me to take any pictures and is saying '' zoom error''. it does allow me to veiw my pictures.

Does it turn on at all, can you see things through the viewfinder or back screen (LCD) ?

My guess is when it fell, the lens got pushed in or to one side and it is now dented or bent and its getting stuck or hung up.I know that with my little canon if my finger is even touching the lens when it is trying to turn on, the camera wont work and i get a "Lens ERROR" code. My guess it is a safety feature so you dont burn out the tiny motor in the les system. youd either need to send it out for repair or ues this as a perfect excuse to up grade to a newer camera. One more thing, when turning the cam on, can you pull the lens out physically?

My fujifilm s1000 keeps showing "zoom error." I don't know what happend. It's like one day it's working, the next not. I have a family member graduating Friday and can't afford a new camera. I've taken out the batteries and let it try to reset. Nothing happens. Can you help me?

If you try turning on the camera with the lens cap on, you may get zoom error. Ensure that you are removing the lens cap before turning on the camera.

If the autofocus ring is held while taking the picture, or operating the lens this will also cause the Zoom error message coming up.

If that is not the problem, then the lens has troubles extending. This may happen because of dust stuck in lens mechanism, or because of a mechanical fault concerning the lens.
Any cause preventing lens from full extention or retraction will trigger zoom error.

In the screen says lens error

Hi I had the same problem with a codak C743. I cleaned the lens casing from out outside as much as I could and sprayed a tiny bit of WD40 making sure not to get it on the lens itself.

Then I kept turning it on, and zooming in and out until I got the lens error message, switched it off, the on again, wipe, new WD40, zoom etc. repeated this s number of times until the lens was freed.

I think I had some sand/ dirt around the casing.

Worth a try I guess.

I had what sounds like the same problem. The camera was dropped and the shutter was stuck open. Just kept showing error message.
As I felt I had nothing to lose I began tapping it on a soft book and the shutter started to appear. I then shut it just using the end of my finger. When I then turned the camera on again it opened and shut when turned off. It has worked fine ever since.
Seems a rather poor design.
Hope this helps. Very best regards Peat.

Lens Error, Restart

What you are seeing is a generic stuck lens error message, turning off the camera and turning it on again will not fix the lens unfortunately.

Your lens needs to be cleaned or repaired, and if it cant be repaired it needs to be replaced. There are online places that will do it for a decent price and there are others that overcharge by way too much.

Fixya rules prevent me from giving you a link to anything off Fixya that would help you fix your camera.

Good luck from....
