washer fill with water model # LA4800XTW0 then just sits there no agiate no spin water will then drain once switch is manually advanced. Lid switch problem? OR direct motor coupler?

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post, if you mean manually advancing the timer it will drain, it's a coupler. If you mean manually activating the lid switch, it is the lid switch or lid switch strike.

( this is based on the most common Whirlpool, Estate, Kitchen-Aid, Roper, Kenmore, Inglis top-load washer, not necessarily applicable to ALL...based on the model provided, it cover's yours)

Thank you for choosing FixYa. Please take a moment to rate the info I provided and a short testimony is appreciated.

I just bought a used Kenmore 70 series washer, model #20712990. It will fill and agitate, but after that it seems to get stuck "soaking." I moved the timer forward to rinse, and it agitated again, but it never drained and re-filled. It isn't spinning, either, since it won't drain. HELP!

all that is wrong is the lid switch is bad, remove the 2 head screws one on each side, flip the head up,you will see the lid switch jack on the washer top, unplug it clip the two outside wires and wire them together(unplug the washer first before you start this)now plug the jack back in,you have now by passed the lid switch and your good to go,let me know how you do-mike
