Tip & How-To about Heating & Cooling

How to find Air Conditioning, Heating and Furnace parts online.

You have checked out your furnace and you know what the problem is. It may be a simple ignitor, or a pressure switch. The part will be very easy to change, but what is the best way to find and purchase the part online?

The best way to find your part is to know what to search for. To do a search you want to keep your search as simple and direct as possible. A generic search for “furnace parts” will give you many options. However you can narrow things down greatly by search for a brand name and parts. Something like “tempstar parts” will give you many suppliers that carry parts for Tempstar furnaces. The same thing goes for air conditioners. Just search for the brand name and parts and you will find the parts for heating products and air conditioning products.

When you get to the different suppliers website, then simply enter the model number and often the serial number into the appropriate boxes and you will get a menu of parts to choose from. If you are in a hurry for the part you can get next day shipping for an extra cost. The costs also include priority handling so that you part gets shipped that day instead of a couple of days later.

When looking for a part, make sure also to check a couple of different websites. Different websites will have the lowest pricing on different parts. Don’t ever assume that just because on website had the lowest price on one part that they will be the lowest for the next part that you need. Always comparison shop, it will same you money.

goodman furnace ignitor works, blower starts up but no flame, no heat ignitor glows then everything stops

sounds more like a pressure switch problem. If the pressure switch does not make, then the furnace will not attempt to light. Its a safety feature on residential furnaces.

Check the pressure switch and hose for obstructions. Clear any and attempt to re-light. If still not successful, its time to contact a local service company to check the gas valves and electronics.

york furnace model p2mpd12h06401f flashes 4 times for trouble code does'nt have code list inductor motor comes on but ignitor does'nt come on

Check pressure switch for inducer motor. If switch closes, check for crack in ignitor. If gas valve opens and you can hear/smell gas, the ignitor is bad probably. If pressure switch isn't closed you need to check for blocked vent/chimney/heatexchangers.
