Tip & How-To about Car Audio & Video

How to clean your CD/DVD player when the rollers get dirty.

Hello There,

Well most of us have had to face the annoying problem of CDs/DVDs not ejecting or not inserting in a car CD/DVD player. The easiest way of rectifying this problem is to follow these steps.

Items needed.
1. Spare CD/DVD.
2. Clean cotton Cloth.
3. Small flat screw driver (Optional)

1. Make sure that there is no CD/DVD in the player already.
2. If the payer is empty skip this step other wise empty the player by prying out the CD/DVD using the screw driver. Be sure not to exert too much force.
3. Turn off your player.
4. Wrap the cotton cloth around the spare CD/DVD so that both sides of the CD/DVD are covered by a single layer of cloth.
5. Hold this CD/DVD in your hand and insert it into your player and move it back and forth a few times.
6. When you will remove the CD/DVD you will see that the cloth is dirty. You may want to change the location of cloth to the clean side and repaeat step 5.
7. After doing all this your player should ejst and insert CD/DVDs just fine.

Hope the above tips help all of you guys.

error 0a-0224-0000

Dear Vincent,

The 0A-0224-0000 is a "File Copy Failed" error. It means that either the computer was not able to read from the CD/DVD or it finished reading from one CD/DVD and was expecting to read data from the next one (when you have two or more recovery CDs/DVDs). If you have more than one recovery CD/DVD, as soon as you see the CD/DVD reader LED (light) stop flashing, eject the CD and insert the next one in the sequence, doing so till all recovery CDs/DVDs have been read.

If you cannot eject the DVDs by pressing the eject button (some DVD writers only allow you to eject the disc after finishing the whole operation) you will have to straighten up a paper clip and insert it in the small hole close to the eject button to force it open and change the CD or DVD (do a Google search for "how to open a CD or DVD drive with a paperclip, in order to better understand how to do it)".

Hope this helps!

does not read Cds or DVDs

most sony CD and DVD players have a digital signature design to play CDs and DVDs that are original and licensed. some CDs or DVDs dont work since the player does not recognize or scan any digital signature embedded in the CD or a DVD. 2nd, lens problem causes most players not to read CDs nor DVDs. you can try to buy CD or DVD lens cleaners to have your lens cleaned.

jvc kd-sx770 car stereo--radio works, but cd player doesn't

Hello beeswing70,

The player is recognizing that a CD has been inserted but is not able to read it.

Sometimes the lens assembly becomes contaminated and obscures the laser. I'd try using a commercial "lens cleaning CD" two or three times and then try a CD again. These lens cleaning CD's are widely available. If cleaning does not help, the player need professional service.

Hope this helps.
