Tip & How-To about Philips DivX DVD Player

How do I remove a Logo from my AVI (MPG4) file using VirtualDub

There are two methods both have their unique merits the Delogo filter and the Logoaway Filter with UGLARM** are coded by other programmers other then Avery Lee and are available from their respective websites.

DELOGO - Karel Suhajda
http://neuron2.net/delogo132/delogo132.zip

This requires you to dump a bitmap and cover the logo area with RED (255,0,0) and repair the AVI using this as a mask. As shown here save it as a 24-bit Bitmap using MS Paint or Photoshop

You can alter the Depth, Power and Pixel Aspect until you get the best result. If you view the Repair mask in the filter it will have a red inside and a yellow boarder these can be modified until you get the best results

However is a good idea to strike a happy medium between the X and Y components, if you set the Pixel Aspect ration in the horizontal you will loose vertical lines on the AVI and vice versa, the middle settings will give you diagonal blending.

Depth=6
Power =7
Pixel Aspect Ratio=1:1.2 (in the Vertical)

LOGOAWAY - Krzysztof Wojdon
http://voidon.republika.pl/virtualdub/logoaway_v401.z

This is easier to use than the Delogo you simply need to specify the X.Y start and box size values. Using these you can either use the

  • Luminance
  • X-Y
  • Solid Fill
  • UGLARM
the UGLARM takes longer to process but gives similar results and sometimes better than delogo this shows the UGLARM mode preview where you can change the Remove Mode's : Radius and Component power.

new mechanic reccomended transmission flush and service. is this good advice?

for automatic transmissions where the oil is not fresh but shows signs of burning ( burnt smell) , the transmission shows signs of sluggish changing the a flush would be recommended
There are 2 methods that can be used
the first is a cheap method where the pan is removed and the oil taken out and the filter cleaned
While the pan is off , the clutch packs and bands can be adjusted
The more costly method but a far better choice is to flush the transmission while the engine is running
Oil is sucked in from a fresh drum and delivered to a waste drum. this changes all the oil in the transmission and torque converter where as the first method leaves dirty oil in the torque converter
The second method does not require the pan removal so adjustments are not done and the filter is not cleaned
While the advice to change the oil is good you have to decide which method you want to use
I suggest a discussion of the merits of both with an accredited transmission shop and get quotes.

how to program tv remote?

To do what, exactly? Each manufacturer of programmable/learning remotes has their own code base and unique numbers for each code.

Also, the programming methods vary by brand.

Have you read the manual for the remote and made sure it is programmable (many are not) and then followed the instructions?
