Power Light blinks on LCD monitor for computer

Alot of HP and Dell monitors run into this problem even though other brands of monitors as well can have this issue.

What happens in most cases is that there are puffy capacitors on either the power board or main board inside of the monitor itself. What needs to happen is the base of the monitor needs to be taken off, then the screws taken out of the back. Take a flathead screwdriver and there should be grooves all around the edges of the monitor, put the flathead inside of these grooves and twist the screwdriver and it should unsnap the front bezel from the back bezel.

You might have to do this all around the monitor to get enough of it loose so you can pull it all off. Once you get the back off then you should see a metal shielding like a metal box. Go ahead and unscrew the screws holding that in.

Once that is taken off, you'll see two boards, a power board where you would normally hook up a plug to it and a main board next to it which is bigger in size.

What we are looking at is the capacitors, a good capacitor looks like this:

Notice the good flat silver tops.

A bad capacitor looks like this:

You'll notice that the silver tops are swollen. If you see these then they need to be replaced. You need to have soldering experience cause the old ones will need to be taken out and the news ones put in.

Make sure the ones you put in are of the same UF rating and at least the same voltage or higher. Make sure before doing any work on the monitor that its not plugged in.

Once the new capacitors are put in then go ahead and try turning the monitor on. If it turns on then BOOM your good to go. If if still doesn't turn on then its either a bad board or the screen itself is bad but either case the monitor would need to be replaced.

for a dell all in one 926 printer: put in a new Dell black ink cartridge and now only prints like it's running out of ink, Some lines look good and others are faded. Help please. Tammy

How's the color cartridge? The multi-function printers need both to print properly. Try switching to grayscale only, even then you'll get some fading but not as bad. Just dealt with this issue on an HP. They're made by the same company, just branded different! I tell people if they do alot of printing, get a laser color printer (not too expensive anymore) & just use the scan/fax from the old unit. These multi-function units are problematic no matter what brand, unless you spend $400 or more for a small commercial unit.

Upgrading a monitor does not require uparading the RAM or the video card on your computer unless you want to run graphic intensive video games.

memory upgrade problems

Hmm if the pc takes DDR Ram , it should deffently take 512 sticks, have u tried booting the computer with just the one 512 stick ? or try putting the 256 stick in and 1 x 512 stick , test it that way with both sticks , some older computers there is a bios setting for upgrading to higher amount of memory, but in your case with DDR ram i dont think so , i mean it may be worth a shot going into bio's and load optimized defaults , press f10 to save settings, try one stick at a time after that , if still no go , there is a jumper pin on the mother board that u can move over a slot which will restet the bios, if u dont know this jumper pin or where it is, just remove the round battery on the motherboard for 30 seconds , then put it back in , try your new ram then , u will be asked to save settings on boot up , if it still dosent work the ram is either faulty or incompatible, alot of the time with Dell , HP /Compaq desktops there fussy with the type of ram they take, but if u ordered from dell it should have worked !! whats the brand name of the ram u have is it hynix? /HP this brand of ram has alot of issues with compatibility,

Dell E173FP - After sometime the screen switches off

Sorry not a solution - but I have started experiencing the exact same problem over the last month although sometimes, on switching on again, it will run for 10-15 minutes before the problem re-emerges. Initially I put it down to the v. hot weather in July but it still continues. So I would also appreciate any solutions!
