Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet
Imagine that you have bought a computer that runs adequately fast. However, after a few weeks or couple of months you notice that your computer is not running as fast as it was when you first bought it.
One solution that someone may think is to buy new hardware (new processor, more RAM, bigger hard drive etc)
However before doing that try the following:
First of all go to Start, All Programs, Startup. If this contains items that you do not need you can delete them. These are just shortcuts and not the actual applications. Think if you need these applications to begin everytime you start up your computer. If not then remove them from that menu list.
Second thing you can try is a little bit more advanced:
Go to Start, Run and type msconfig and press enter.
In the dialog that opens go to Startup and see the long list of applications that startup everytime you boot your computer. You should only leave your antivirus program, and entries under the c:\windows\system32
If you are not sure about an entry leave it there or check it over the internet.
Then click on services and click Hide microsoft services. Check again which services should not be enabled and disable them. Use google again if you are not sure about the listed services.
Lastly, right click on MyComputer, select Properties. Go to Advanced tab and under performance click Settings.
Select Adjust for best performance
That's it. You should have a computer/laptop running faster.
