Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Computer Audio

There are quite a few people out there having problems with installing a new version of windows and or re-installation of windows and loosing there audio driver for the sound. This can be easily fixed.

You will need to go to the manufactures website. EX: www.dell.com,www.hp.com ECT....
Than you will need to click on support.
Once there you will need to enter your model number and or serial number than search. ( DELL customers will need to use the service tag number, This can be found on an oblong sticker on the side or back of the computer. Some models have the flip cover on the fronts there will be a service tag under the covers.)
This should bring up the window for your PC(Personal Computer) Once there look for the tab or link for software and driver downloads. click on that link.
Once this is done you will need to look for a driver for the Sound and or Audio. Once this is found you will need to download the driver and click SAVE than run it on your computer. You will need to restart your computer and your sound should work.

If you are needing any further assistance please do not hesitate to ask.
I will need the following information to help you. Make,Model and serial number of your (Personal Computer) PC as well as the operating system. EX: Windows Home 64, Windows Home, Windows Professional ECT...

NOTE:For DELL customers please provide me with the service tag number as well. This can be found on a oblong sticker on the side or back of the computer. Some that have the flip covers on the front the service tag can be found under the plate.

May 12th, 2008: Some customers reported problems installing Studio Plus version 11 UPGRADE (11.0) or Studio version 11 Standard (11.0) on systems with Windows XP Service Pack 3 was already installed (a message asking for Windows XP Service Pack 2 is displayed). Pinnacle is investigating this problem.

We can offer you the following workaround:

  • Copy all the content of the Installation DVD of Studio version 11 to your hard disk in a new folder.
  • Download http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/Studio11/WelcomeSP3.exe
  • Copy the file WelcomeSP3.exe to the root of the directory where the Installation DVD was copy
  • Double-click on WelcomeSP3.exe to launch it. It will take few seconds and then the Studio version 11 installation will start.

Need to run recovery, appear to be missing a few

Well you will have to contact Sony and see if they will send you a set of recovery CDs - they will charge for this - I know HP & DELL do this theres not much alternative, other then buying a new windows disk if you know exactly what type of windows version you have XP Pro, Vista Home etc and can borrow the CD and then use the license KEY that is written on your PC this is quite legal - BUT you have to use your KEY written on a label on the machine - the version of software is also written on that label

startup repair will not fix problem

thank  for the responce
if you can risk loosing all the data then you  could go ahead with reinstalling the Operating system
if you have a windows xp  installation disc  you should go with that. but after that you might have to find the drivers for your laptop  from the internet
if you need any help  finding those you could always contact me
.

windows vista might have all the drivers for the laptop preinstalled (that is just my guess as i have see this quite a few times) after you install vista but for that you will have to  purchase a windows vista installation disc
thanks......

pinnacle studio 11 will not install on my windows xp. I have service pack 1,2 and 3 on here. Yet it says when I go to install it , that my comp does not have service pack 2 and will not install. I think sp 3 is blocking sp 2 some how. But how do I get around this problem?
