Tip & How-To about Refrigerators

LG Refrigerators

As an authorised servicer for LG I am reading these problems constantly! Many of these problems are covered by a service recall from the manufacturer. If your servicing dealer doesn't check for this, the situation goes bad. LG adresses these design issues with upgrades at no cost to the consumer but the dealer has to check this online. At my shop, we check every call for recalls before we respond. If there is a recall on a part on the customers unit we replace it while we are there for the service call. It does not do any good for a manufacturer to address design flaws if the servicer doesn't check for this.

will ford fix a recall after the car changes owners. The 2nd owner didn't know there was a recall.

Recalls do not expire, they are generally safety-related and therefore are covered at no cost to the current owner. You can visit nhtsa.gov to check for open recalls on your vehicle by VIN, or contact a dealer.

As the yadayada mentions though, if it was a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB), those are not covered if outside the warranty period, for the original owner or the current owner.

I paid 112 for diagonis at dealer and he tells me the cabel real if faulty in the steering and needs to be replaced. Asking for 375 to fix. Is this a recall. I have seen bulletin on this. the audio control on the steering also do not work.

The dealer should be able to tell you if its covered under a recall. You can always call ACURA, the number will be in your owners manual. A service bulletin only tells techs how to properly fix a problem thats new, or common or not covered in the service manual. If you want it fixed, you will need to pay.

Overheated melted light cover could this have caught fire?

This is not a recall but the manufacturer will most likely cover the repair. The relay for the lights is stuck closed on the control board. The repair should include all cosmetic parts that were damaged plus a new improved control board and a new socket assembly with a thermostat built-in. Contact your local certified service depot for the repair.
