Tip & How-To about eBay Auctions

How to succesfully sell things on eBay

1. Create and Ebay account if not already done so.

2. Do a simple search for the item you wish to sell. This is to get an idea on prices similar items are selling for.

3. Click on sell in the upper right hand corner, then click start selling

4. Enter keywords about your item (up to 3) and then select one or more catagories to list in. (the more catagories, the more popularity and more chance to sell, but don't just list in a category it doesn't belong in just to get more popularity.)

5. Fill out the form for selling the thing.
5a. Price
-Starting- this is the price that the auction starts at, if someone bids, it will sell for no lower than this.

-Reserve - This will allow you to set you starting bid as low as you want and have it sell for no lower than the reserve. (keep in mind this may drive away some people)

-Buy it now - This is the price that you can give to buyers if they simply want to buy and don't want to auction.

6. Upload pictures. Pictures are important. Sometimes this may make the difference between selling and not selling. I always try to use pictures of the actual product. It just lets buyers know what they are actually getting.

7. Use the best description you can, the more details there are, the more attractive it is to the buyer. DON'T repeat the same thing over and over just to get more words.

8. Pick a good shipping method, and what I have found out the best way to do it is to go to a shipping place, have it packaged up, and have them tell you how much it will be to ship. Tha way you will have no surprise shipping costs. You can also always refund the extra pice for shipping if you over-estimate.

9. List the item. eBay is pretty good at helping you the rest of the way.

I hope you enjoy selling things on ebay and soon you will become a master. Pretty soon, you'll be earning yourself stars.

How do I get into eBay to sell bags and quilts I have made

Hi, you can sign up for a free account with eBay here:
https://scgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?RegisterEnterInfo
Once you've registered, log in to your account and click the Sell link in the upper right corner. On the seller's page, click the big green List your item button, and eBay will walk you through putting your items up for sale, step by step.
Good luck with your sales!

Iwant to advertise an above ground pool , I do not know where to start. Thank you Jill Smith

Hi there!
First you need to register an account on eBay by going to www.ebay.com and click the register link.
Once you are registered you will then be able to list your item and once you are done, you will need to activate your seller account.
Here's how to list: 1. log in to your account and click the sell tab on the upper right. 2. then click the list your item button (green) in the middle of the page. 3. then type in above ground pool in the select a category box and click search, you can then choose teh category for the item. You may use this category
  • Home & Garden >
  • Yard, Garden & Outdoor Living >
  • Pools & Spas >
  • Pools >
  • Above-Ground Pools

  • Then once you are done, you can then continue and you will see the create your listing page and you just need to fill the form and complete it.
After clicking save and prreview and continue on the next page, you will then be asked to create your seller account. Just continue and you will be able to list your item.

If you will not see the item in your active listings, then you can try to go back in the sell page by clicking the sell tab on the upper right and the list your item button (green). Then you will see the finish your draft listing and just click complete and it will redirect you to the sell your item form that you created (draft).
I hope this helps you! Have a great day!

Here's how you can put a reserve price in your listing, follow these steps:
First, if you are lisitng an item using the Simple Form you need to switch to form with more choices first. In the Create your listing form please click the "Switch to form with more choices" link that you will see on the upper right hand corner of the Create Your Listing page. Then follow the steps below:
    1. On Create your listing/Edit your listing page, scroll down and look for "Choose how you'd like to sell your item" section on yellow orange background.
    2. Click on "Add or remove options" link within the same section.
    3. Click "Set a minimum selling price for your item" for Reserve price and the "Save" button after.
