How to Restore Disabled Folder Pane in Windows Explorer

Problem:
When you open Windows Explorer, the left hand Folders pane is disabled or gray or blank and the folder tree on left is not available.

Cause:
There may be an error in the registry. A required system file is missing or an incorrect version.

Solutions:
Close Windows Explorer.
Start the Registry Editor (click Start, Run, type regedit and click OK).

Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main.
In the right-hand pane, locate the value named ExplorerBar. If present, delete it.
Restart Windows Explorer. If this does not resolve the issue,
The correct solution depends on the version of Internet Explorer that is installed on the computer.Internet Explorer 5.5 or lower
The preferred solution for computers with Internet Explorer 5.5 or lower is to upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer.
If this is not possible:
Open the folder C:\Windows\System. Check that the file browseui.dll is present. If it is not present, restore this file.
Internet Explorer 6
Open the folder C:\Windows\System. Check that the file shdocvw.dll is present. If it is not present, restore this file.
Open a command prompt.
Enter the command cd \Windows\System
Verify that the command prompt shows C:\Windows\System.

Enter the command regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll.
Enter the command regsvr32 /i browseui.dll.

A message will appear confirming the successful registration of the files.

Now restart the sytem and confirm the problem is solved.

How to upload pictures to computer

Insert the USB cable into the computer and the other end to the camera. Turn on camera. Most camera's come with some sort of software for transferring but it isn't needed. When plugging such a device into a Windows computer it will then download and install the needed drivers to access said device. Open Windows Explorer, not not Internet Explorer... on some versions of Windows it may simply be labelled as, "Explorer.exe"...

If you've never open that program before then it should be in it's default mode and not require any tinkering. There should be a left pane of info and a larger right pane. Locate the camera on the left pane. Double click it to open and keep opening folders til you get to your pictures which would show up in the right pane.

If the default view is libraries then you need the change view icon. It looks like a two panelled icon, a smaller left side and larger right side image, click it to change to panel view.

Select all images in the panel either by pressing CTRL + A to select all, or CTRL + L click on each image to select individual ones. After all have been selected, R click the highlighted images and select copy. Look at the left panel and look for where you want to copy the images to. Either My Photo's folder or make a new one. Once there, in a blank space in the 2nd pane, R click again and select paste and all selected images from the previous pane/panel will be copied to the new folder.

how do i make bookmark folders on windows xp

Bookmarks are used in Mozilla Firefox, Opera & Google Chrome browsers. Internet Explorer uses Favorites. In Internet Explorer you just click browse to the webpage you want to save as a favorite then click Favorites, then click Add To Favorites and a popup window will appear with an option to create a new folder. In Mozilla Firefox browse to the page you want to bookmark, then click Bookmarks, then click Bookmark This Page. A popup window appears and you can select the drop down arrow next to Unsorted Bookmarks or the Gray Arrow just to the right of the unsorted bookmarks arrow. Both of these arrows are for folders and when you select either one you will see an option for a New Folder. In Opera browse to the webpage you want to bookmark, then click Opera at the top of the in the left hand corner and it will expand giving you options. Click Bookmarks, then click Bookmark Page and a popup window will appear allowing you to create a New Folder. In Google Chrome click on the wrench in the right hand corner at the top of the browser window. Then click Bookmarks, then Bookmarks Manager. When Bookmarks Manager opens you will see it has an Organize option, and when you click it you will see an Add Folder option. But the Add Folder option will be grayed out and unusable unless you highlight one of the folders already existing under the Bookmarks column.

how do you transfer the info on my hard drive to an external hard drive?

The easiest way is to use Windows Explorer to do it. (NOTE:This is not Internet Explorer.)

Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer

When the window opens, you will notice 2 panes: left and right.

Click on the little + next to My Computer. You should see your external drive listed. (It will probably be an E: or F: drive if you don't have other drives attached.)

You can click on the + next to that drive too. If you have nothing on it, the + will just disappear.

I am assuming you want to transfer pictures or documents for backup.

You can "Drop and Drag" any files and folders to the new drive by doing just that. Say you want to transfer all your pictures. When you have clicked on the + sign and expanded the list on the left, now click on My Documents on the left pane. Everything in My Documents will now be listed on the right pane. Click and hold the left mouse button on the My Pictures folder on the right pane. Do not let the button go. Now drag it over to the left side over the new drive. It will become hi-lited. Now let go of the mouse button. Everything in your My Pictures folder will be copied to the new drive.

Repeat this procedure for all other files or complete folders you want to transfer.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi tater. Hmmm. The product category you selected is for a Standard E260. But if your player is an E250R (Rhapsody player), here's a set of procedures that might help you. Deleting songs from your E250R can be done in 2 ways: By using Windows Media Player 10 or 11, or by browsing the player through Windows Explorer. Before you delete files, though, it's important to know that your player comes in 2 modes: "Rhapsody" and "PlaysForSure". The reason why is that music files saved in one mode would not be seen in the other mode, and vice versa. Therefore, if you can't find the music files in your player, switch to the other mode. Here's how to do it: Use the "Menu" button to navigate the player as follows: Menu > Settings > Mode > This will give you the option of: "Rhapsody" and "PlaysForSure". Here's how to delete your songs: (1) By Using WIndows Media Player: > Plug your Sansa to your computer and open your Windows Media Player. > If your Windows Media Player is version 10, then click on the "Sync" tab and you should see your player ("E250R") on the right pane along with its folders, named "Data" and "Media" or "Music". Expand the "Media" folder and you'll see the "Music" folder containing your songs. Right-click on a song and select "Remove" to delete them. > If your Windows Media Player is version 11, then either click on the "Sync" or "Library" tab and you'll see your player listed on the left pane. The music files will be displayed on the center window. Right-click on a song and select "Delete" to delete the songs. (2) By browsing the player in Windows Explorer Note: the folders containing the music files on your player are "Hidden" and you would need to set your Windows Explorer to show "Hidden Files and Folders". Open your Explorer, select "Tools" on the top menu, select "Folder Options", select the "View" tab and enable the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" radio button. > Plug your Sansa to your computer and open your Windows Explorer > If your player is in "PlaysForSure" mode, then your player will be recognized as a "Portable Media Device". Double left-click on your Sansa E250R and you'll see 2 sub-folders named "Data" and "Media". Open the "Media" folder and you'll find sub-folders normally named after the Artist. Your songs are located on those Artist folders. Delete them by using the keyboard "Delete" key or right-click the file and select "Delete" > If your player is in "Rhapsody" mode, then your player will be recognized as a "Removable Drive" with a drive letter. Double left-click on your Sansa E250R and you'll see the following sub-folders: "Albums", "Music", "Photo", "Pictures", "Playlist", etc. Your songs can be found in the "Music" sub-folder. Delete them by using the keyboard "Delete" key or right-click the file and select "Delete" I hope this procedure helps. A bit lengthy but, hey, it worked for me (lol).
