Tip & How-To about Apple iPod touch

How to change your iPod touch and iPhone battery

Batteries for the iPod touch, iPhone, and much more can be purchased from http://www.milliamp.com

Using a thin, but sturdy guitar pick, carefully separate the backing of the iPod from the screen. This may be tough to do because the chrome backing snaps to the touch screen assembly, and care must be taken to prevent cracking the screen.

Once the chrome backing is separated from the iPod, the battery is now exposed.

If the battery has never been changed, it will more than likely be glued in place, and must be carefully removed with the guitar pick as well.

The wires must be soldered and taped with electrical tape, or carefully protected with heat shrink tubing. There is not much clearance available inside the iPod, so keep this in mind when finishing up with the wiring and protecting the wires from shorting.

Carefully put the new battery in the old batteries spot, and snap the chrome backing back together with the front screen.

Charge the iPod for at least 10 minutes before attempting to turn it on, but keep it on the charger until it is fully charged for best results.

it says can not sync ipod(-53) What does this mean..how to fix

Hi, message saying "can not sync" means that the connection from the ipod to the computer was not successful..
If you sync your iPod with a different/empty library iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from the iPod to the computer and everything else on it will be erased. You'll find details on transferring purchases in this article: iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer

Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store

If you want to recover the music from CDs etc that is on the iPod and transfer it to your new computer there are a few things you can do. music from CDs etc.) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.

A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

One last thing, you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. Open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok before connecting your device.

Once you have recovered everything from the iPod and your iTunes library has been rebuilt it will be safe to sync again.

Ipod screen cracked when it fell lightly out of hand.

Ni because the do not cover accidental damage. You can purchase a screen for it on ebay and have it repaired at www.pdarepair.com its all your choice, but under warranty for damage I do not think they cover that you can call them but you probably going to be wasting your time.

Thanks hope this helps.

New Nano Video Ipod

There is a way to open it up but it's not easy. You need an ipod openening tool or other very thin but sturdy object (guitar picks work well also). You slide the pick or tool in between where the case front and back meet and twist to open it up. you will have to do this all along one side. When you get it opened up enough it wil just pop open. You might be able to find an ipod repair shop in your area that would open it for you for no charge. Putting it back together is easy, just snap the front and back together again.

  1. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi Networks, then pick the network.
  2. In the DHCP panel, select the Renew Lease button.

  1. Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed iTunes 7.4 or later from www.apple.com/itunes. Apple recommends using the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer.
  3. In iTunes, select iPhone or iPod touch in the Source pane and click the Summary tab.
  4. Click "Check for Update." iTunes will tell you if there's a newer version of the iPhone or iPod touch software available.
  5. Click Update to install the latest version of the software. Or click Restore to restore iPhone or iPod touch to its original settings (this erases all data on iPhone or iPod touch). Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the restore process.
