Allowing Network Access with Blank Passwords with Vista

Although you can log in locally without a password, by default, Vista does not allow network users to access the computer without a password.
To change this setting:
Run gpedit.msc
Go to Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Local Policies / Security Options
Double click on Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console login only
Disable this option

Change a Network Password

A network password is a combination of alphanumeric characters that users must enter in order to access a local area network.

Wireless routers use this password to protect the network from unauthorized users who could potentially steal bandwidth from the network, access sensitive data and view the information being sent to and from the network's router.

To change your network password, you must log on to the router's URL and access its security settings.

Type the router's URL into your web browser.
To access and change any settings on your router, you must log in to the router's URL.

This will allow your computer to communicate with the router and access the router's main page. When accessing the router's URL, use the same computer that was used to install the router.

If you do not know the router's URL, look for this information in the router's manual or on the manufacturer's website.

After entering the URL into the web browser's address bar, press "Enter" or click the "Go" button on the browser.

Input the router's default username and password.

Once you enter the router's URL into your web browser, a dialog box will appear requiring you to input the router's username and password. (Note that this password is not the network password.)
Unless you have previously changed the router's username and password, input the defaults.

Many routers have the default username of "admin" and have the password set as "password" or have no password at all.

To find out your router's default username and password, check the documentation that came with your router or check the manufacturer's website. Click "OK" to proceed to the router's main page.

Access the router's security settings.
Depending on your brand of router, there will be tabs or links on the router's main page.

One of these will contain the page for changing your security settings.
Find and click the link or tab.

This page will contain several textboxes, one of which will contain the SSID (name of the network) and two textboxes for changing the network password.

Select an encryption type and change the network password.
Most new routers offer WEP (Wired Equivalency Privacy) security or WPA security.

Select the type of security and change the network password by typing in a new password in the two text boxes.

When you are finished, click "OK."

Save your changes and log out.

After changing the network password, you must click "Save" or "Apply" to keep the password change.

Log out of the router by clicking the "Logout" or "Exit" link on the router's main page.

If you leave the main page open for a certain period of time, you may be logged out automatically.

Is there any software by which i can work on my computer when i am away from my home ?

Hello, you can work with your pc even away from it without a software.. In Windows, Remote Desktop allows you to access your computer from a remote location. To enable Remote Desktop, you must have administrative rights on the computer you want to use as the host (i.e., the computer to which you will connect from a remote location), which must be running one of the following versions of Windows: Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate Windows XP Professional The Remote Desktop Connection client software (for the computer from which you want to connect) is installed by default on all computers running Windows 7, Vista, or XP. Enable the Remote Desktop feature on your host computer From the Start menu, select Control Panel (or Settings, and then Control Panel). Double-click System. In Windows 7 and Vista, click Remote settings. In the "Remote Desktop" section, select one of the two options to allow connections from other computers. In Windows XP, select the Remote tab. Select Allow users to connect remotely to this computer. To choose which users will have remote access, in 7 and Vista, click Select Users... or in XP, click Select Remote Users... . Typically, all administrators of the computer will have access by default. Each user must have a password before you can allow remote access. When you are finished, click OK. Your computer will now be able to accept incoming Remote Desktop connections. Open a connection If you have configured your computer to accept remote connections, to establish a Remote Desktop connection: Depending upon your network configuration and system requirements, you may first have to establish a VPN connection to your host computer's network. From the Start menu, select Programs or All Programs. Select Accessories, and then Remote Desktop Connection. In the space next to "Computer:", type the name or IP address for your host computer. Click Connect. Note: If you would like to adjust any of your connection settings such as screen size, login information, availability of local hard drives and printers, or keyboard and sound behavior, click Options before clicking Connect. In the Log On to Windows dialog box, type your username, password, and domain (if required). Click OK. Once you are connected, you can use your remote computer as if you were sitting in front of it. When you are finished, in the Remote Desktop Connection window, select Start, then Shut Down. In the Shut Down Windows dialog box, from the drop-down menu, select Log Off username, where username is your username on the remote computer. Click OK. goodluck!don't forget to rate, thanks'''''****

not able to go online

have you been online with this computer before?
or
Are you setting up for the first time?

Once you have an Internet Service Provider ,ISP,
you just need a modem and phone line access,
plug modem into phone socket and then into the computer,

My example modem is.........

Speed Touch 5x6v6 - Broadband Modem

log on to the modem using Internet Explorer Bar
Type 192.168.254
this will open the modems log on menu
then enter user name and password
its factory default is
user ADMIN
password ADMIN or 1234

once open there are some menu options on the main page

Speed Touch,
Broadband Connection,
Toolbox,
Home Network,

to add new user and password,
go to toolbox,
user management,
add new user
add password,(write down username and password)
change default user
save and test
should have a green tick next to new default user now

selecting broadband ... shows both your,
dsl connection and internet connection status,
with a green tick next to each heading.

Home network will show you...
all devices connected to this modems network ie
the other computers and printers etc,
connected on your network.
In network ,select your computer in the menu tree,
select configure
this give you a menu to add info about your computer
ie name info, comupters ip address,
access to the local intranet or the internet

Now lets connect to the internet

select Broadband from fornt page
menu will open and display
DSL & Internet Connections
here we test functionality.on? or off?

Now we go to your computer,
start my network connection
run wizard in my network places
select new connection
follow prompts to the end.

open internet explorer
if web page opens then we are done and finished,
open tools and internet options,
connections and then lan settings
select automatically detect
Apply then close
Test webpage again,
when ok shut down and restart,
to save the computers new settings ,
Test again with internet explorrer.

if no connections run wizard again,

Hope this Helps,Cheers Misterdj
