Sandisk U3 Launcher wont start is there a conflict with my Stick Drive?

There are known conflicts between Nero v7.x Essentials that is bundled with loads of DVD burners and the U3 launcher when you insert the USB stick into a PC. You will normally get error code 1001 which is a failure to connect error, or a 1010 connection time-out error

• 1001 Error in the communication to the device
• 1002 API initialization error
• 1003 Not a U3 device
• 1004 Domain type error
• 1005 Internal error
• 1006 Device is not connected
• 1007 Error in parameters passed to the method
• 1008 Error in domain address
• 1009 Passed buffer is too small
• 1010 Connect time-out has been reached
• 1011 Error while initializing the applications list
• 1012 Error while initializing the applications paths
• 1013 Error while initializing the host path

The most common reasons for the U3 Launchpad failing to launch:

1. - Conflicts with application software ( Nero 7, AnyDVD)
   
2. - Conflict with hardware drivers (disable all other virtual drives)
   
3. - Conflict with CD/DVD (remove all CD/DVDs from the trays)
   
4. - Windows drive letter masking bug ( change the drive letters and remove network shares)
   
5. - Inadequate USB power supply (stop it and try another port)
   

Also when the USB hub as found the drive you may get the pelican extension error where the I: as shown here is the actual stuck drive memory the virtual CD-ROM will be under another letter maybe F: for example and will contain the three files required to launch the Cruiser software to that you can add U3 applications.

You may also see the Pelican (aka Cruzer Program Wizard) Extension error as it tries to access system folder on the physical memory stick




There is no know patch the simplest way is to uninstall Nero and upgrade to a later version.Nero v9.4.12.708 Lite is free and has all the basic functions that you will ever need to burn sucessfull CD and DVD media.

I suggest that you use the Nero Clean Tool v5.0.0.13 to remove all traces the offending Nero 7 this will take about 5 mins to action



I suggest you also remove all traces of your personal settings to make sure I has totally gone this is the only way to make sure that you trusted U3 drive will work in you PC without a complete Windows DOS re-install.

** AnyDVD can still be used if you change prevent it loading on startup you need to make sure that the U3 launcher has started first then you can start AnyDVD also change the drive selection so that it only monitors your physical drives, the de-select all your virtual drives just to be sure that there are no conflicts during the use of AnyDVD.
