How to sucessfully repair the Taskbar in Windows XP

If your taskbar has become hidden or icons are missing read on

Close any open desktop and taskbar applications, then open your registry and find the key below. Delete the entire StuckRects2 for Windows XP, and reboot.

Press the + to access the run and then type regedit navigate to the following user key.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER_Software_Microsoft_Windows_CurrentVersion_Explorer_
StuckRects2]

And then delete it when your PC restarts the taskbar with be recreated and repaired.



There are several other programs that suggest that they can fix the taskbar but this is the simplest method that I have found so far that actually works.

My sound icon is missing from tool bar.

no sounds comming out from my pc speaker


First verify you see a small sound icon in the Systray . If this icon is missing follow the below section
1. Open the Control panel
2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document.
4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel.
5. Double-click the sound icon in the Systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.

Check Windows services. Right Click My Computer and Manage. Choose Services and Application > Services. Choose "Windows Audio" and set to Automatic and Start.
Check ur registry. Check if the sound registry key is enabled or disabled. There could be an error in registry, run registry cleaner reg in out to scan for errors.

in vista: taskbar does not show icons of opened files


Might be a registry value error. Check the settings or do a system restore.

ERROR Window: Fail to read from dependant file.


If you are getting "Failed to read from dependent file" during installation, this is because Registry Booster is already running in the background.
If this is the case, then you should be able to see an icon in the
system tray next to the system clock. Double clicking on this icon should
restore the program window.
If you do not find it here, please right click on the taskbar and choose task
manager. In the processes tab you should find a registrybooster.exe entry. Select
it and click End Process.
