Tip & How-To about Garden

Keep Your Gasoline Power Tool Running for a life time.

When you put up your lawn mower or any power unit for the winter, (or summer "snow blower" ) make sure to drain out the gas,( it is even better to run it out of gas )
the little orfice in the shut off valve or small fitting below the gas tank may gum up and plug up if you don't.

If your unit won't start in the spring then take the line apart at the tank and remove the valve or small fitting in the bottom of your tank and clean the hole out with a pipe cleaner or small wire,
A lot of repair shops charge an arm and a leg when all they do is this very thing about 75% of the time each spring.

Check the fuel line to the tank, and see if another one is inside, maybe it fell off, or it's filter is clogged.

my troy bilt snow blower that i bought last season (new) ran great i drained the gas at end of winter and this year is hard to start and runs poorly stalls often and bogs down spits and sputters and also backfires what do i do

I am guessing you did not run a gas stabilizer through the unit. Start the unit and run it while spraying carburetor cleaner in spurts into the carburetor. What has happened is that the small amount of gas has dried or what we call varnished causing internal parts to stick. If that fails, removed carb and disassemble and clean, reinstall.

toro timecutter spits and sputters when blades are engaged

Did you drain the fuel before you put it away? If not then you should drain the fuel and clean the carb. Gas when in lawn mowers and any other small gas engine will turn into a slim in a way and will block the carb. Drain the fuel and clean the carb system will run great when that is done

Mower won't turn over

Keep it in the kitchen over night. Or anywhere that is environmentally controlled for that matter. Should start right up as soon as you get it outside.

If it sat for some time without running aslittle as 30 day the fuel is probly stale and needs to be drained and the carb cleaned and possibly a new spark plug
