Tip & How-To about Cell Phones
What is a PUK?:
PUK stands for Personal/PIN Unblocking Key
Why am I being asked for a PUK:
If you have entered your PIN code incorrectly more than 3 times your SIM card will be locked for security reasons.
If the SIM card is barred by your network service provider it may also ask you for a PUK
Where do I get my PUK:
Your network service provider will be able to provide your with your PUK code. They will usually ask you to confirm the actual SIM card number when you phone so have this ready.
There are programs out there that claim to remove the restriction on your SIM card, these are entirely false and will only infect your computer/phone with Malware if downloaded so avoid at all costs.
How to get your PUK:
Contact your network service provider's customer service department and they will issue your PUK.
Pleas note if you enter the wrong PUK more than 10 times it will lock your SIM card indefinately and you will need to have another one issues from the network.
