When I open the Display Settings dialog box in Microsoft Windows Vista Home edition, I am receiving the following error message: The currently selected graphics display driver cannot be used. It was written for a previous version of Windows, and is no longer compatible with this version of windows. The system has been started using the default VGA driver. Please contact your hardware manufacturer to get an updated driver, or select one of the Microsoft provided drivers. Please advice how to resolve this?

this means that the driver that you installed on this os which is windows 7 , that driver is not compatible with windows 7 and you need to uninstall it After uninstalling the driver , please download the latest version for the same driver viz compatible with windows 7 .

my audio is not working after uninstalling windows xp and installing windows 7.

The quickest way is to use the free download of DriverAgent at DriverAgent.com. The program will scan your hardware device drivers to check for the latest drivers. This will tell you which drivers are out of date including your audio driver. You can then go to the manufacturer's site and download the correct audio driver for Windows 7.
If you subscribe to DriverAgent, you can just download the driver form their site or the manufacturer's site, and you have a way to check for the latest drivers for your system for the next year.
Please let me know if this works out for you and make sure to rate this solution. Thanks.
