How to Properly Clean Your LCD Screen

LCD screens are everywhere—computer monitors, TVs, PSPs. And they like to get dirty. You can buy a screen cleaner to keep it looking shiny and new, or you can try some of these simple suggestions. 1 part distilled water and 1 part 70% isopropyl alcohol. Do not use rubbing alcohol or tap water as they both will smudge the screen. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the solution on as opposed to spraying. Also suggest using: Whiteboard cleaner Eye glass cleaner

When powering up the monitor comes on,then flickers a little, then display goes black.can the e233h monitor be reset?

Probably not. This is most likely either a backlight going out, or an inverter board going bad, or other internal component (costs $100+ to replace by a professional). Not worth it to fix in most cases, unless you have an extended warranty, or a local repair shop with really good rates.

However, you can try another monitor cord (between monitor and computer; not likely to be the problem, but rarely can help). Flat screen (monitors/TVs/laptops) generally last 5+ years with average use, but I've seen them fail within 2 years (especially on laptop computers). In general, if you got 3 to 5 years out of a monitor, you did ok.

PS: If buying a new LCD monitor or TV, look for one that says "LED" on the box. (LCD monitors traditionally had a few fluorescent bulbs inside as "backlights", but newer LCD monitors/TVs have hundreds of tiny LED lights inside, which last longer, use slightly less electricity, and give more even lighting on the screen edges).

We recently moved and this tv must have been damaged in the process. Although, the exterior looks fine, when we tried to turn it on the picture was a complete mess! It appeared shattered with colors sort of everywhere. The sound works and like I said, the screen itself isn't cracked or doesn't appear to be damaged. However, the fractured picture makes it unwatchable. Help! Can this be repaired or should I just **** it up and buy a new tv?

Buy a new tv.The tv u have now,the LCD screen panel it internal screen membrain is broken. The tv,u have now, dosen't worth a whole tv anymore.Tv only now, worth as only as a salvages tv for it electronic boards for parts, that it.The LCD screens panels are 90% important to the LCD tvs, when, that damages or broken. The tvs doesn't worth it to replaced it LCD or Plasma screens, because tvs screens panels are limited produced by the tvs industries,u will not able to buy it anywhere, but the tvs industries themselves. They'll sell it to u,but the same priced as a new tv.

What is the best way to clean the monitor screen?

The TFT or LCD screen is one of the most expensive component of your notebook or desktop computer and they're very sensitive to dust, fingerprints or even when you cough or sneeze without covering the mouth and nose.

Unlike the standard CRT monitors with Glass screens, you are not advised to clean an LCD Monitor by wiping it with a piece of dry lint-free cloth since the sensitive display is likely to get scratches from dust particles.

So how do you clean an LCD monitor screen without buying any of those expensive LCD Monitor Cleaner solutions or Monitor Wipes available in the market ? We look at some proper methods and precautions before you clean the monitor [should apply to HDTVs, projection TVs and Plasma TVs as well]

Think of LCD Displays just like the soft and delicate skin of your newborn baby - Be very gentle and never put even the slightest pressure on the computer screen with your hand.

Second, you need to find a piece of soft cloth - old cotton handkerchiefs lying in your mom's wardrobe should be fine but don't try tissue papers, toilet rolls or even shower towels as the fabric will scratch your screen permanently [like sandpaper or utensil scrubbers]

Either turn the monitor off or set the background to black and hide all the desktop icons and minimize the open windows. This will easily help you identify the dirty areas of the monitor.

To prepare the solution for cleaning LCD monitors, you will need deionized or distilled water and vinegar or iso-propyl alcohol - Don't use tap water or mineral water as they could leave white marks on the screen because of the dissolved salts.

Dilute the vinegar or IPA with distilled water [1:1] and spray this liquid on the cloth. Never ever spray liquid directly onto the LCD screen. Moisten the cloth with this home made LCD cleaner and gently move the wet cloth in just one direction - from top to bottom.

Word of Caution: Be sure that the LCD screen is dry before closing it or using the computer. Do not use any solutions that contain Acetone, ethyl alcohol, toluene, ethyl acid, ammonia, or methyl chloride. Never touch the LCD screen with your fingers as this can cause the pixels to burn out.

hey there My psp screen is broken, it's bricked? i think How can I solve it? Thank Josh

The worst thing that can happen to your PSP is a damage to your built-in liquid crystal display (LCD).You have 2 options, either replace the screen with a new lcd screen or buy a new PSP console. But before you go out to buy a new PSP console, think about buying psp repair parts like a PSP LCD screen replacement. Most of the lcd monitors are new, new pull, used pull or refurbished. So you have to ask your vendor if the lcd replacement that you are buying is new.If it is new the quality is and must be perrfect.Pull parts come from other used or unused PSPs that have being broken down for parts and may have some scratches.Refurbished parts are used parts that have being repaired to bring quality level close to a new but most vendors that are claiming to have refurbished PSP screens actually do not, so reject that option. Always ask for guarantee, most vendors will give you a 6 month.
