Add users to the administrative alerts list

The safer option is to use the Server Manager tool. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Server Manager.
  2. From the list of computers, double-click the name of the server for which you want to add users to the alerts list.
  3. In the Properties dialog box, click the Alerts button.
  4. Type the name of the user or computer you want to add in the New Computer Or Username text box, and click Add.
  5. Add additional names if necessary.
  6. Click OK, and exit Server Manager.

my WD 320gb external hard disk is not getting detected in computers...the blue light blinks on d drive & also in device manager the hard disk is shown....but cant get into it & itz not shown....watz the solution??plz help me....


For windows 7 / Vista : - write "Administrative Tools" to start menu "Search Programs and Files" box and click enter - Double click "Computer Management" - Click on Disk Management under the Storage on the right. - If your WD disk is shown on the list at the top, right click it and select Change Driver Letter and Path - Select a suitable letter. - Try reaching to your hdd from My Computer
For windows xp ( or 7 and no results appear when you write "Administrative Tools" to start menu "Search Programs and Files" box and click enter)
  1. Right-click on an open part of the Windows task bar and selectProperties. The Properties dialog box opens.
  2. Click the Start Menu tab, then click the Customize button. The Customize Start Menu dialog box opens.
  3. Click the Advanced tab, then scroll to the bottom of the Start Menu items list and click the radio button next System Administrative Tools > Display on the All Programs menu and Start menu.
  4. Click OK twice.
  5. Click Start > All Programs > Administrative tools to access these tools.
Then follow the above (first) steps.

Active Directory in 2003 server


If active Directory is not in administrative tools then it is likely that the machine is not configrued as a domain controller. You will need to add this as a role through server manager. Once configured as a domain controller Active Directory will appear under admin tools

shut down services


If you are using Windows XP, follow these steps.

Open your Control Panel, click "Performance and Maintenance", and then go to "Administrative Tools". Go to "Local Security Policy".

Under 'Security Settings' -> 'Local Policies' -> 'Security Options', find "Shutdown: Allow System to be shut down without having to log on" and enable it.

That should take care of it.

You have to enable routing and remote access in win2k server to share your internet connection

Follow these steps

Goto start--> programs-->administrative tools --> routing and remote access

Just click it

In the action menu click add server and select your server in the list

Once routing and remote access is properly installed in the server

Go to the client give gateway address to your server address and any internet DNS server addresses , and you can now acccess the internet

You can also use any internet sharing software , In this case i sujjest to use Sygate Internet sharing software

disabled task manager


try selecting the run option under the start menu. type in "gpedit.msc" and go to User Configuration, then Administrative Templates, next System, and next Ctrl+Alt+Deleve Options. Choose Remove Task Manager and double click the Remove Task Manager option. Disable this, and restart the computer. a shortcut for the task manager is Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
