How to get the chain brake reset so ou can get the sidecover back on

If you have removed the sideplate on your chainsaw with the chain brake in the locked position, you will have a very hard time getting it back on without destroying the brake band. If you have done this try this solution. First remove the bar and chain fronm the saw, then start putting the side cover on, use one of the nuts on the front screw.As it comes in contact with the ratcheting part of the hand break make sure you push the chain brake handle forward while tightening the front nut I mentioned. when the nut is snug, pull the brake handle back to reset the brake, You will hear it click into place. then remove the side cover and re install the bar and chain. your good to go/

What worked well for me was removing the clutch mechanism "the part that the brake band grabs" With that out of the way it was easy to fit the side cover on and pull back the brake handle to reset the brake.
