Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Best Solutions can be found, if you look in the right place

I've noticed that many of the questions asked in this section, which is 'Mac Desktops' , have nothing to do with Macs. Asking questions about game consoles, PC laptops, etc.. should be in their proper section so you will get the right expert for the task.

Cheers

I'd love to help with your problem. I've had Macs for years, and I have a MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, I have no idea what you're asking. Sorry.

Why my account has been banned?.

Since you managed to post this question, you're obviously not asking about your FixYa account. Would you care to tell us what account you are asking about? Have you violated any of their rules and policies? Did the ban notice tell you why you were banned? Does it give you any instructions for contacting them and asking them?

When i want to use my webcam on chatroullette.com, the website asks me if i would want to Use my webcam or if i dont, however when i click on YES or NO nothing happens. My imac webcam works fine on PHOTOBOOTH.

Some websites are windows only. I know, very biased but most are upgrading to be able to use MAC interface(s) as more MACs get out there like Ipads etc. Contact the site for info to verify.

may i use Canon MF 3200 printer with Mac?

Hmm. I don't know if you are talking about a problem with your computer's motherboard, or if you are asking a printer question. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say you're asking a printer question.

The Canon ImageCLASS MF3200 is like the MF3240 multi-function printer and no, Canon does not offer software, drivers, nor support for Macs for these models. It is possible that one of the printer drivers that comes with Mac OS X may be able to "talk" to your multifunction to get it to work only as a printer. But you won't get the copying, scanning, OCR, and fax features through the Mac.

You can call Canon's customer service at 1-800-OK-CANON to lodge a complaint. Personally, I tell Mac users not to look to Canon for a 4-in-1.

i can hear/feel lacie unitwarmup/spin up after plugging it in, but nothing seems to be recognizing it (Neither SIW, nor refreshing view in ''my computer). Other towers/laptops notice it, so i suspect there's a problem on my end, not neccesarily with the external unit. I'm running xp, mac units seem to see it. it's and external partitioned out to exchange/lacie, and lacie is accessed only on the main unit (which is the one it can't function on currently.)

Hi,

If it recognizes on the Macs but not the PC the first question to ask is, is the drive formatted for Mac or PC? If it is formatted for Mac the PC will need to add www.macdisk.com to provide a driver that will let it use the ac format.

If it's formatted for PC or if you already have Macdisk installed then the problem is with the PC but may require a bit more digging.

Let me know how you make out,

Chris
