Force the Upgrade of your SKY + firmware at the touch of a button

This applies to all PVR2 and PVR3 Amstrad. Pace and Thompson SKY+ units you Sky installer may do this for your it is simple to do;

HOLD THE BACKUP BUTTON WHILE YOU POWER ON THE UNIT

the TV and SKY+ will look like this during the upgrade please do not power down during this time as you will almost certainly kill your unit I always connect my Belkin UPS prior to a forced upgrade just to make sure it is always best to make sure that it will not fail during this process.

Notice that the lights on the unit this one is a PACE type PVR2 the REMOTE MESSAGE and ONLINE LED's are all illuminated as well as the POWER.

I had an old PACE box that had been used for the last 8 years that was still at v5.04d given to me last month I forced the upgrade and it took it to the latest version v5.07u this may not sound that important but there are some firmware versions especially for the AMSTRAD PVR2 unit that will cause audio lag and loss on certain channels (Virgin1, CN and CH4).

After the upgrade has completed I suggest that you check which version of software your unit is now using;

1.Press the Services button
2.System Setup menu
3.Press Option 5, 'System Details'

This shows the same unit 9F2106 before and after the upgrade the smudged info is the viewing card number etc.
