Tip & How-To about Audio Players & Recorders

How to solve disk read error

If you are getting a disk read error message with any of these devices listed then just follow the instructions at the bottom.
House stereo
Car stereo
Car dvd
Dvd player
Blue ray player
Computer
Games console
Or anything else that uses cd or dvd.

The first thing you need to do is go out and by a cd or dvd lense cleaning kit you can buy thse from most computer stores or electronic hardware stores make sure you dont buy the cheapest one you see as these tend not to do any good and can cause more harm than good, so go for a mid range to high end one.
Run this disk in your player and this will then clean the lense of any dust or grime that has built up over time this should then solve your problem.

If after doing this you still have the problem then this would indicate that either the laser unti has over heated due tp build up of dust or it gas reached the end of its working life and needs replacing.
The problem you have with this is unless its a high end player or games console then the chances are it would cost more to repair then it would to replace the whole player

My Car stereo gives me a disc read error message

It could be the disc is scratched, or it could be a dusty film on the disk reading lens.

acer 5534 will not boot up....tried recovery disk....but nothing......error message PXE-E61-media test failure..........no bootable device

Hello:
Your Acer laptop is not detecting a bootable device, for sure your hard disk is:
1.- Malfunctioning and has lost its master boot record.
2.- It can be ruined and must be replaced.

In the first case, primary and recovery partition are bad, as you mention the recovery process failed (ctrl +F11). First, press F2 during POST, when "a enter Setup message" is prompted on the bottom of screen to check if the hard disk is listed on the Main BIOS properties. If detected, the hard disk can be recovered booting from DVD-ROM. In the BIOS setup utility, you need to select boot from de DVD-RW. Insert Windows 7 setup disk and it will check for possible boot errors, choose repair when prompted. Follow the instructions. The system will restart.
If the hard disk was not detected in BIOS properties, you should ask Acer for guarantee.

I hope this helps. Thanks

May I know whether the Hard Drive is listed in the BIOS? Try reinstalling the Windows using the Windows OS disc.

If you get the error-message when you try to boot your computer, your disk-drive is either:
1. not connected to the motherboard
2. improperly connected to the motherboard
3. dead/dying, so that the Operating System files on the disk-drive *CANNOT* be read.

So, the computer tries to boot from an "alternative" device (either the 3.5-inch device or the CD-ROM device) -- if you don't have any media inserted into either device, you will get the error-message.
