How to trouble shoot no display problem in PC

Mostly the prolem comes with PCs is no display. When such situation comes we can try following DIY and 90% the faulty part could be diagnosed:
1.Unplug the VGA cable of the monutor and if monitor shows some message (check signal cable) monitor is ok
2.First check for the power whether LEDs are blinking? If yes power unit is fine.
3.Check for the responses of the kwyboard LEDs, if after switching on LEDs are blinking processor is ok otherwise there is some issue with Processor.(Note it might not blink if the mainboard is burned)
4.Try to press num lock key if the LED is responding most probably this is the issue with RAM otherwise with Mainboard.

Akai cftd 2088 TV comes on . goes off after about 5 min, won't come on again for some period (an hour maybe?) - is this likely to be an overheating part, or what?

You're might correct that your unit goes to overheating which produce an out of regulation on the supply. This is mostly caused of the ff:
1. Leaky filter capacitor on the regulator section - this will affect the regulation of supply which causes subsequent shutdown 2. Leaky volt regulator IC - it will overheat fast. 3. Leaky filter capacitor on the system supply.
Diagnosing the faulty parts is not diy so i've advice you to look for a qualified tech to do the job.
Have a nice day! Thanks for using fixya.

What is AF on my camera?

A bit more detail would be helpful to diagnose your specific problem: what mode is the camera in, does it do it all the time or only in certain situations.

There are a few situations when the autofocus does not do well: focus too close to the subject, or in a very low light situation, or the subject is gray. Check that you are not affected by any of these.

Otherwise, try to find if there is something wrong with your camera: find someone else with the same camera (or one in a store display), and see if following the same steps gives you the same result.
