Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet
This will re-create your original Norton Antivirus Install CD with the latest virus definitions by replacing the bundled 32 and 64 bit versions with the latest. I recommend that you use a CD-RW and update it as often as you can new defintion i32 files come out almost every day
The install requires a valid serial so unless you have one don't bother
You can also download a bootable CD version of NAV2008 to scan your PC if you have a valid serial number is at v220.127.116.11 and contains the definitions for the 29th August 2008 search the internet for NAV RECOVERY x86 SKU 14139706, I use it sometimes however I prefer to use Ghost v14.0 with my Updated Virus Defintions CD.
This is also worth a read from the norton website, this descibes how to use the WAIK to update the NRD for 2009 you will need the serial number to make this work as I don't have it I have not done this yet as I have now moved to SKY ISP and I get McAfee for 12mths for free.
Here is the link for the NRD on their ftp site you must have a valid serial for the NAV2009 to use this so If you don't either buy one or don't its up to you.
