Motorbike Leaking fork seals

If your offroad motorbike has a leaking fork seal, try this before you take it to get fixed.Get some old camera film(negatives)and cut off the holes on the edge.It needs to be about 4inches long.Cut the top off at 45%.Now slide and work the piece of film up into the fork seal. You then work the film up and down in a sawing motion as you go around the fork seal.If you FEEL some grit, slowly pull it out, wipe clean and start again.Do this untill the fork seal feels clean of grit.It can save you heaps of dollars and maybe it will fix your problem if you are out riding on the weekend. It very often works!

I Want to replace front fork seals on my 2004 Yam XT660X and need to know Fluid and Quantity used. Are there any manuals available for this model. I have replaced seals on some of my previous bikes.

If you want to replace them for maintainence ok.If its for a leak ,try this.Get some camera film negative.Usually in the pack of photos.Cut the notches off the side and cut one end at 45%.Slide it up into the fork seal. Now,with a sawing motion ,move it up and down and at the same time, work it around the seal.Any grit that is causing the leak will be felt. When grit is felt, pull it out, clean it and start again. It may take a few times but it works.A lot cheaper than seals all the time.Hope this helps

how to replace front fork seals

If the fork seals have a slight leak, try this.Get some camera film negative.Cut the notches off the side and trim the top to 45%.Slide this up and into the forkseal using a sawing motion.Go all the way around the seal 2 or 3 times. If there is **** caught up in the seals, you will feel it and when you pull the 'tape' down the **** comes with it.I use this a lot.If the forks are pouring oil out, yes. It needs more work.If this helps.Great.Keep the dukes on the road.:)

how to replace fork seals on TE450 2008 model? How do i pull them apart and service them?

Try this before you pull the forks apart.Get some camera film.About 6 inches long.Cut off the notched area on the side.Cut the end at 45%.Now,push the cut end up into the fork seal. With a sawing action, slide the film all the way around the seal. When you get the feel of it you can feel tiny bits of grit that let the seals leak. This will stop the leak 9 times out of 10.When you feel the grit, pull the film out to remove the dirt, wipe film clean and start again.Hope this helps

front fork leaking oil from bottom of the seal.

This is one of the few things that I recommend you take to a shop - you need some very special tools and techniques to fix this problem. Sorry,
