Tip & How-To about Refrigerators

Doing It Yourself

Many people think they can fix their appliances, but you really should think twice. Tearing into your fridge can be a disaster, weigh the cost of destroying a good machine or calling in a trained repairman. Many of the common problems with ANY appliance require replacing parts that you have no access to. Spend a little, save a lot!

compressor keeps running, and really noisy, seems to be working though, when thermostat set to off the compressor shuts off, so the thermostat should be good right, could it be a low charge, or just a bad compressor going out, fridge is from 1990.

i agree with you its is one of those problems you mention or both,so lets look at cost first:under new EEU regulations an engeneer has to drain you old gas from your fridge back into a special containor he will charge you for disposing it, then he will charge you for finding your leak/s and repairing it or them and last he will tell you what you already know your compressor is on its way out.I want you weigh up the costs of repair which im sure will be quite substantional to the price of a new or good second hand fridge your call ,.hope this helps you.adrian

Dear friend,
ngfam at you service! happy to assist!

Call HOTPOINT and tell them the firge has not worked right from the from day one and this is the third time it brok!
AND THAT YOU ARE REMODELING YOU WHOLE KITHEN NEXT MONTH AN YOU ALREADY PICKED OUT THE GE APPLIANCES FOR YOU NEW KITCHEN!!!!
BUT YOU WILL NOT BUY TILL YOU SEE THAT THEY REPLACE YOUR LEMON OF A FRIDGE!
We have been in the retail appliance business for 65 years and the manufacturers do this every day! It's called a PUSH PULL!
They contact a retailer like us to bring you a replacement on them and they pay us for the job and delivery and pickup with out costing you a dime!
Just ask for the supervisor, be nice and calm and polite!!!!!
And persistent!!!! Out of warranty does not matter if they have documentation that you had repeated service for this unit in this short time!
IT'S EASIER TO KEEP THE CUSTOMERS YOU HAVE THAN MAKE NEW ONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It does work every day!!!!
I promise you!!!!

Let me know ! OKAY nagfam1
