Hello my laptop isn't charging properly. It is plugged in and all of the cables are connected. There is power in the plug socket but it doesn't seem to be charging. Help!

Hi! Drain the power charges of the laptop by shutting it down and by unplugging both ac adapter (charger) and battery from the computer.

Press the power button for like 10 times while the battery and charger is disconnected to drain the power of the board.

connect back the battery first then connect the charger to the computer. Make sure that the charger is connected to a stable power outlet while charging the system.

Please leave a comment if you have any other questions.

Cheers!

how long should u charge battery first time and can u over charge

this depends on the battery size, you normally should be ok after 3 hours or so
batteries get to max chargig capacity after about 3 full charges (+ fully drained)

Normally you cannot overcharge, but you can make your battery lazy if you never let it drain and always charge it during work it will get lazy.

So Try to drain your battery frequently, and do not work with te charger connected all the time

toshiba satellite m35 power issues

Hi !
While power off, disconnect the power adaptor.
Take off battery.

Plug the power adaptor back and try to start !
Is it running?

If yes, than the power adaptor is OK.

Now shut down and disconnect the power adaptor.
Put back your battery and start!
Leave it untill you 'empty' the battery.
Do not start your laptop.

Plug the power adaptor and do not start your laptop yet.
Is there a led idicator showing that the battery is charging ?
Does it shows when the battery is full charged (e.g. red/yellow=charging, to green/off charged)?
If not, leave it for at least 3 hours. After that, start your laptop (adaptor is plugged) and see if you still have an icon saying charging 99%.

If that is the case, then something is wrong with the battery.

Check your warranty, and replace it.
DO NOT OPEN the battery - nothing interesting you will find inside - nothing you can do !

Regards.

laptop battery

It does charge until the battery reaches full charge, then charger stops and laptop use adapter's power. The whole system is thought to not damage or wear the battery while in charge. Leave battery safely inside your Dell while using it with power adaptor, it should not make any difference in your battery life.
