Tip & How-To about Makita 12 Volt Cordless Drill/Driver Kit

Chuck removal/cordless driver drills

For chuck removal first remove the chuck retaining screw which is LH thread. If this tool has a high/low selector shift to LOW and if equipped with a clutch shift to the drill only position. Find a bent handle allen wrench about the size of chuck capacity (the larger the better, less flexing) and insert the short portion into the jaws and tighten. Position the chuck on a workbench or block of wood with the longer portion at about a 30 degree angle so you can strike it counter clockwise with a hammer, strike the longer portion and the chuck should loosen (it is standard thread pattern) It might take a couple hits to remove. Chuck installation would be to reverse the above to seat the chuck and reinstall the screw.

remove the keyless chuck from a silverline cordless drill

If this is similar to all other drills, you would first remove the chuck retaining screw LH thread, shift the tool to the low setting and the clutch to the drill only position. Find a bent handle allen wrench and lock the shorter portion into the jaws and position the chuck on a workbench or block of wood with the longer portion at about a 30 degree angle so you can strike it counter clockwise with a hammer. It might take a couple hits but it will work. If I have helped you with your request would you please rate this response accordingly and thank you.

Can't get the keyless chuck off cordless Makita 6095D drill.

If this is a newer tool it is probably a Torx drive screw usually a T20. The screw is LH thread and after removing it you will need to put some screws back in tool to remove the chuck. First shift the gear selector to the low setting and the clutch to the drill only. Next get a bent handle allen wrench about the capacity of the chuck install the short end of wrench in chuck and tighten. Put the chuck on a block or wood or a workbench to support is and turn the wrench to about a 30 degree angle in the counterclockwise position. The chuck has standard threads so you want to hit the wrench with a hammer to loosen it. This might take a few tries but it will work. Good luck
