Try this fix:
For windows XP: Click on start Click on run Then type Regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Class > {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. In the right pane, if you have UpperFilters / LowerFilters, right-click UpperFilters / LowerFilters, then delete it. Exit registry editor Restart the computer
For Windows Vista / 7: Click on start Then type Regedit in the search box. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Class > {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. Everytime i wants to format my pendrive it say disk is write protected, how can i solve this problem?

The way to do so is simple

just follow the instructions

we are going to edit the registry in xp for that
Use Registry Editor with caution

2)Type regedit and hit enter.

4)Click on the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

5)Click on the plus sign next to SYSTEM

6)Click on the plus sign next to CurrentControlSet

7)Click on the plus sign next to Control

8)Click on the plus sign next to StorageDevicePolicies

9)Write click on WriteProtect and click modify.

10)If the value data is 1 change it 0 and click ok.

11)Repeat steps 7 to 10 for ControlSet001 and ControlSet002 .

12)Close Registry editor and restart the computer.

If you don't find it in the registry, the best way is to create it yourself. Below is the procedure.

Start the Registry Editor

Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control key

If there is no key called StorageDevicePolicies, create it
You do this by right-clicking the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control key, and selecting New > Key from the menu.

Select the StorageDevicePolicies key

From the menu select Edit > New > DWORD Value

Name the new value WriteProtect

Right-click the WriteProtect value and choose Modify

In the Value Data: box enter 1

Exit the registry editor, and restart your computer

i think this will solve your problem

Double check the brand name of your Combo/DVD drive. Try to check the specification of that brand and model of your optical drive.

Actually there are such things that your Combo/DVD drive could not burn. However DVD drives has an option to burn with DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W.

In this case if your optical drive able to burn either of the two different types of disc (which is DVD-+R/W), try another brand of DVD disc like Memorex, TDK and Sony or some other brand which is/are not generic.

Or in one case there would be a big possibility due to the Burning Software that you are using that changes the settings in the registry for your optical drive, have to follow these steps carefully.

1. Click on START then go to RUN and type regedit then click OK.

2. Under "Registry Editor" screen have to select "HKEY LOCAL MACHINE" by clicking the "+" sign.

3. Under HKEY LOCAL MACHINE select "System >> CurrentControlSet >> Class and select the first {4D...} then highlight the selection.

4. After highlighting the selection of the first {4D....} select or highlight on the Lowerfilters and Upperfilters in the right pane window and have to those two (2) filters then have to exit out on the Registry Editor.

5. Restart the laptop and try to burn a blank disc that is not being used previously.

Hope these things help you to determine. Thank you.
