Tip & How-To about Globalsat BU-353 GPS Receiver

To really flush the memory

I had a protocol problem and US Globalsat tech support said to leave unit unplugged for 96 hours to flush the memory (4 days). The unit didn't reset until I had not plugged it in for 5 days (120 hours). If you leave it for a week with the power off, I'd be comfortable you had really flushed the memory...

My Sony Dream Machine won't save the correct time. When I set the date, it defaults back to 2009, and even when I get the correct time set, the clock won't advance. It's been 8:52 PM for days! I've tried unplugging it and I've tried replacing the battery.???

My wife's unit has the same issue - tried the firmware update (from Sony's website) and their suggested fix with no luck. Still works as a digital picture frame, but wrong date and stuck time kind of disappoint.

FYI - Suggested fix for stuck date/time:

Unplug unit.
Remove backup battery.
Leave for 30 seconds.
Plug back in and then put battery back.
Set date and time.

Didn't work for me, but maybe you'll have better luck.

My TEC MA-1650 won't accept barcodes or PLU's nor can I delete any. Has been stored for 12 months.Cannot perform a PLU reset. Won't recognise PLU's or barcodes which should be stored in memory. Thanks

These units have memory protection battery, when power is turned off
the battery will take over, after 6 months, specially older registers, they will loose all the program info, you will need to reset the memory to factory default and then leave it plugged in a couple of days then unplug and leave a day when you power on the next day it should work if it doesn't you need to replace the battery

Unit shuts down upon temporary loss of power

Its time to shake a local rep and ask for an exchange on that controller. If they want to sale us on customer service then make them eliminate that as a possibility an exchange it for free.

can not read disk

I just sent my BDP-S300 in with same problem...the tech told me he couldn't duplicate the problem and I think I know why...the fix is to UNPLUG the power cable and leave it unplugged for a minimum of 2-3 minutes...this process clears the internal memory; it seems that if you don't clear the memory, it won't read any disc because the unit thinks the same 'problem' disc is in the drive... (don't simply hold down the power button for 5 seconds - that will 'factory reset' the unit to default settings and you will have to reset your video / audio settings)...you have to physically unplug the unit from the power source...If I had waited a little longer before repowering the unit, I wouldn't have had to send the unit in (obviously the unit was without power during shipping and when it was powered up, internal memory was reset and thus did not indicate any problems). One more trick I learned is this - If a disc won't eject, turn the unit off, and instead of using the Power button to turn unit on, use the Open / Close button...the tech said the unit will then eject the disc before trying to read it...Hope this info helps!

ge profile refridgerator

unplug unit for 3 to 24 hours and then plug back in
it should work then
some of the oil inside the compressor must have travelled
up the pipes, if you leave unit upright and unpluged for at least
3 hours it should work
if this does not work you'll have to get repair man
