Tip & How-To about Antec Performance One P180B (ANTP180B) Mid-Tower Case

Known weak points & tips for the Antec P18x series

The Antec P180, P182 and P183 are great quality cases, but they have some minor issues, which are either easily fixed or covered by the great Antec warranty. Below are some pointers and tips:

- The plastic pins of the side-plastic on the front-door are a little weak and can break, leaving the door "hanging" when opened. To fix this, remove the door from the case and carefully screw a tiny screw in place to "replace" the broken plastic pin (at the exact location the plastic pin was originally). Do it from the inside out, until the screw is like 3 or 4mm outside the panel and then put the door back in. You might want to make the screw-top a little blunt first too.

- The (plastic) L-hooks on the side-panels are also known the break, so be very careful when taking the panel of or setting it back. There's no easy fix for a broken hook, but luckily a broken hook hardly effects the fit.

- A good airflow is essential to efficient cooling of the computer components. The best setup in this case is to use 2 intake fans at the front (1 directly behind the airfilter at the front and 1 in the bottom compartment in front of the power supply) and 2 exhaust fans at the back and top. This will result in fresh, cold air sucked into the case at the front and the warm air pushed outside the case at the back. There are no special 'intake' or 'exhaust' fans, it's just down to how you fit the fans. Most fans have an arrow on 1 of their sides indicating the direction of the airflow.

- As with any computer case, you still need to "clean" the inside of the case every X months, since dust will always get in, with or without any filter. When there's too much dust inside the case it will hinder airflow, causing the temperature to rise, which causes fans to blow harder and make more noise. In the end it could jam/clutter soo much that your computer becomes "instable" or slow due too overheating. Don't use a vacuum-cleaner (due to static electricity which can damage the PC electronics), but just blow it out or use some canned-air or dry toiletpaper. Mind your eyes though !

Poor Picture Quality on Philips 42PFL7962D

Get the professional, although this won't be an expensive fix... You likely have one or more caps in the vertical circuit that are going bad... A cap acts like a battery in a circuit taking on voltage and releasing it at an even rate. When they go bad their ESR (equivilent series resistance) rises and the cap takes longer to reach it's op temp and work properly...
A tech with an ESR meter will easily find and repair this one...
no other issues only a minor problem..
