Tip & How-To about Home
It's amazing how many people keep a meticulously clean home but fail to keep their bedding clean. A bed is used more often than any other object inside a home. As a result, the average bed is more prone to germs, bacteria, and dust than any other object inside a home. So it's a good idea to clean a bed as often as possible. Here are five tips that will allow anyone to sleep in a clean bed every single night of the week.
Flip The Mattress. Most people flip their beds simply to prolong the life of the mattress. Flipping the mattress also helps prevent dropping spots formed by sleeping body. But most people don't realize that flipping the mattress allows for the perfect opportunity to vacuum the bed too. Cleaning a mattress is actually more important than any other activity because it removes all of the dead, dry skin left behind after several nights of sleeping. Dry skin particles are the perfect food for dust mites and other allergens. Flip the mattress at least once every three months and vacuum the mattress and box spring each time as well.
Clean The Mattress. Remove the sheets and pillows so that the mattress is exposed. Then, sprinkle some baking soda on the mattress. Allow the baking soda to sit for at least four hours. The baking soda will remove moisture, dirt, and odors from the mattress.
Wash The Bed Sheets. A recent study showed that the average American washes their sheets once every seven days. Ironically, that's about as long as anyone should sleep on their sheets before using new ones. Washing sheets remove dry skin, so it's a vital task when it comes to keeping a clean bed environment. So, wash the pillow and bed sheets at least once every week!
Keep Food In The Kitchen. A recent poll showed that one out of five people eat food in their beds. More than likely, most of those people have some food particles hiding in their sheets as a result of the bedtime eating. Tiny bugs may be microscopic in size, but their smell is much better than a normal person's smelling senses. So those tiny, little bugs will be able to find the extra food left behind in bed. It's a good idea to eliminate bedtime snacks as a result simply.
Purchase Waterproof Pillow Cases. Waterproof pillow cases are traditionally used for small children since babies tend to wet their beds. But adults can use them too for similar reasons. These pillow cases prevent moisture from being trapped inside a pillow. In turn, allergens such as dust mites don't like the pillow either.
Most people have no problem washing clothes worn throughout the course of one day. But cleaning a bed is sometimes seen as less important since the bed looks clean. The hidden allergens and bacteria can be brutal for some people, so it's a good idea to follow these five tips in order to have clean and comfortable bedtime experience.
