5 Steps to Change Cartridges in Canon PIXMA Mg5220 Printer

1.Reveal the front paper tray of your printer. Raise the upper part of your print until it goes high as it will reach and close the tab. The cartridge carriage will shift to the middle of the printer.

2.Press in the back tab on your ink cartridge and raise it. Extract the new cartridge from the packaging, unwrap the plastic chip that keeps the toner feed aperture.

3.Push the ink cartridge into the slot in the container and press down on end next to you to lock the brace in place.

4.Pick up the printer upper part and push the bottom of the tab away from you to expose it and then lower the cap. Your printer will then move through different cycles to readjust the cartridges and check the new one is placed correctly.

5.If you have more than one cartridge dried out simultaneously, follow the steps 2-4 for all ink cartridges before pulling down the lid.

My Brother HL 5250DN printer has started making a loud clicking sound when it tries to feed paper for printing. It then stops and the paper light starts flashing.

Clear the jammed paper as follows.
Observe Cautions signs in printer.
Always remove all paper from the paper tray and straighten the stack when you add new paper. This helps prevent multiple sheets of paper from feeding through the printer at one time and prevents paper jams.
1. Press the cover release button and then open the front cover.
2. Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. The jammed paper will be pulled out with the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
3. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.
4. Close the front cover.
5. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer.
6. Open the front cover again.
7. Open the back cover.
8. Pull the tabs at the left and right hand sides toward you to open the fuser cover (1).
9. Using both hands, gently pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.
10. Close the back cover.
11. Pull the duplex tray completely out of the printer.
12. Pull the the jammed paper out of the printer or the duplex tray. Put the duplex tray back in the printer.
13. Push down the blue lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit. Clear the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit.
14. Put the toner cartridge back into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put the cartridge in properly, the blue lock lever will lift automatically.
15. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the printer.
16. Put the paper tray firmly back in the printer.
17. Close the front cover.
18. Make sure that the Paper LED is now off and the printer is ready.
After clearing paper jam if noise persist printer may need a Repair Tech and parts replacement for broken or wore parts.

To remove the jammed sheet of paper :

1. Open the upper front door.
2. Grasping the print cartridge by the hand grip, pull it towards you and slightly up to lift it out of the holder.
3. Then pull the cartridge straight out towards you.
4. Locate the feed roller release lever and gently push it back to release the pressure on the paper.
5. Pull the paper out. CAUTION! The paper may be covered with unfused toner, which can stain garments.
6. If you see no paper jammed under the cartridge, remove paper tray 1. The paper may not have fed all of the way into the printer.
7. Reinstall the paper tray and the toner cartridge.
8. Close the upper front door.
