Tip & How-To about BFG Technologies BFGEGTX260MC896OC2BE NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 OC2 MAXCORE 55 896MB GDDR3 PCI Express ... Video Card

Alienware M17xR4 laptop, Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M to 980M upgrade

Updated the GPU from Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M to 980M. It currently isn't showing up as being installed through "Device Manager" it just says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" where it previously said "Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M". In the BIOS it says Nvidia GFX. My "GeForce Experience" isn't working although i try to manually install the driver.
The AMD/NVIDIA video drivers can normally be uninstalled from the Windows Control panel, this driver uninstaller program was designed to be used in cases where the standard driver uninstall fails, or anyway when you need to thoroughly delete NVIDIA and ATI video card drivers.
Solution:
Download Display Driver Uninstaller DDU - Display Driver Uninstaller is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, without leaving leftovers.
Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 17.0.6.1 - http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Still not working:

Solution:
1/ Go to Device Manager
2/ Select the GPU (in Windows 7 it will be listed as "Standard VGA Adapter", in Windows 8.x or Windows 10 it will be listed as "Microsoft Display Adapter")
3/ Double click on it and select the 3rd tab labeled Details
4/ Select the second item from the drop down menu labeled Hardware IDS
5/ The end of the second line will list the machine ID, as the last set of numbers.

Drivers:
depending on hardware ID of the GPU - M17xR4_05511028_9xxM_378.49.zip

i have a Intel 845 motherboard. recently i installed windows 7. when i play games, i get a message that "hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver". please help.

click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll to display adapters if you see a yellow question/exclamation mark or a red X the driver will need to updated/reinstalled
right click select update driver if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it or you might need to download the drivers compatible to run your games or a hardware accelerator driver
you should browse through all of the devices to make sure the drivers have no yellow or red x's on them

After I install the gtx 460 the drivers dont seem to be working and it shows a warning sing in device manager

If these on the driver's that came with the package then I suggest you download the latest version available at the Nvidia download center here.

Just select the following from the drop-down boxes.
Product Type: GeForce
Product Series: GeForce 400 Series
Product: GeForce GTX 460 SE
Operating System: Your current operating system.
Language: The language that you want the setup to be in.
Then click the search button.
Click download on the next page. Once downloaded, run the setup and it will install the driver. You will need to restart to finish the process.
