What vinegar to use for cleaning?

If you want to green clean your home with vinegar, the best one is white vinegar, because it won't color your textiles (in case you use it for stain cleaning). If you're not sure how to do it, or you don't have the time, I recommend the experts for Carpet Cleaning in SW11 Battersea

dishwasher leaves grit on dishes even after a full wash

Most likely need to clean your dishwasher. Yes....clean the dishwasher. Hard water builds up scale in them, and the best way to clean them is with a product called "Lemi Shine". It's actually just citric acid the same as you find in oranges and lemons, but in this case you put it in the dishwasher and run it empty. It cleans off the scale and deposits that have built up in the tub, pump, and wands. You can do the same thing with a quart or so of white vinegar, but it would take a few times to get rid of the smell. The Lemi Shine smells like lemons, so you won't need to worry about it after you use it.
Best wishes, and thanks for using FixYa!

Steam iron residue on suit pants

I would send them to the drycleaners and point out the contamination. If they were mine, I would treat them with a little white vinegar; the white deposits are caused by a buildup of calcium in your iron. Don't put the vinegar directly on the trousers but use a clean cloth with some vinegar on it and gently massage the deposits.
It may stink, but it is wise to now and then run it warm (only) with some white vinegar which will dissolve the deposits. Put it on a heat-proof surface (such as a stove grate) so it can stand flat otherwise not all of the deposits will get soaked with vinegar. After letting it soak warm, run several tanksful of plain water to remove the vinegar and shake it over the sink in case there is chunks (very well could be) that have been loosened.
