Tip & How-To about Miscellaneous

How to trap rats safely

When setting traps for rats you have to be concerned about the safety of children and pets.
Here's a tip that eliminates the problem.
Find a cardboard box that is large enough to accommodate the rat trap with space to let it function. Cut or use a hole saw to make 2 holes in the opposite sides of the box, close to the bottom, and close to one adjacent side.
Place the box in the area where the rats are, with the holes close to a wall where the rats travel. Set the trap and place it in the cardboard box with the bait side against the "travel" side of the box. Close the top of the box and let nature happen. Pets like cats and dogs cannot get at the trap through the rat sized entry holes. Kids don't see the trap so they don't investigate, and when you do trap a rat, it is pleasantly out of sight of easily grossed out people.
Hope this helps.

how to poison a skunk

Poisoning A Skunk
Here are types of poison used on skunks:
Anticoagulant (rat poison): Includes warfarin, etc.
Antifreeze (Ethylene glycol)
Bromethalin (a different class of rat poison)
Cholecalciferol
Strychnine
When many people think about killing animal one option that will often come to mind is using poison, but this really isn't a good way to deal with a pest animal. Laying out poison for a skunk can often have unforeseen consequences, and many domestic animals have been killed after getting to a poison that has been laid out for another animal. This is also an inhumane way to kill an animal, and the skunk will often look for a place to hide in safety, which can often lead to people discover a rotting carcass beneath their house or in a cavity in the property.

my coby cs-mp77 speakers only play through one speaker and the rest hums loudly

Try connecting the set of speakers to a different computer.
If the problem continues, it's your speaker-wires that have "shorted" out -- got any pets (or small children) or unwanted mice or rats, that like to chew on the wires??

Take a close inspection at the wires.

mice ate wiring

Try to trace all wires and see if the metal part is still intact. Do not turn it on or allow electricity to pass yet! If wire metal intact, get some good quality black electrical tape and carefully tape all the exposed metal. When done, test system.
To prevent problem, use moth balls, fabric softener sheets, or pine sol soaked on cloths to deter mice & rats. If possible, use old- fashion mouse or rat traps with peanut butter to kill intruders to your boat. If you agressively eliminate them, the problem will be solved, but you may have to periodically repeat the trap use.
