Mold growth after water damage

Mold growth can take place in as little as 48 hours after water damage if the water damage is not handled properly. If a water damage situation has gone unnoticed or was not properly dried and treated, you're at risk for mold growth. Acting fast is the key! AdvantaClean

how to clean the mold of the rubber

If you have mold on the rubber gasket of your Duet front loader, I can almost assure you that you have lots of mold in other places in the machine. Front loading washing machine are almost hermetically sealed and if the door is left closed, the inside just never dries out. This is just a perfect environment for the growth of mold and other fungi. Once mold gets established in materials such as rubber gaskets, it can be very difficult if not impossible to eradicate because mold grows "roots" deep into the pores of the material, making it very difficult to remove. Eradicating the mold may result in damage to the gasket since my "cure" is to paint on full strength bleach on the moldy surfaces with a brush or sponge (wear gloves). Repeat if necessary. You may wind up having to replace the front door gasket to get all of it. It will probably take more than one application to fully eradicate the mold from the VISIBLE surfaces of the rubber gasket. If you remove the detergent dispenser and peer inside the opening, you may see a lot more mold inside the cavity. If you see mold inside the detergent dispenser cavity, imagine what the rest of the inside of your machine must look like. Do you run a periodic cleaning cycle as advised in the operating manual? Have you read the operating manual? Do you use the absolute minimum amount of HE (non foaming) detergent? Factory instructions for cleaning the door gasket call for mixing 3/4 cup of bleach into 1 gallon of warm water and applying this mixture to the affected gasket area, let stand 5 minutes and wipe the area down with a dry cloth. My experience has shown that this is a grossly inadequate concentration to deal with a deeply seated mold problem in the door gasket. To run the cleaning cycle, the factory calls for 2/3 cup of bleach to be added to the bleach dispenser. "Use of more than 2/3 cup of bleach will cause product damage OVER TIME". Initially, I would definitely consider using a whole lot more bleach than recommended and run two or more consecutive cleaning cycles. Then EVERY USE OF THE MACHINE: wipe the door gasket and all the creases and folds dry with a sponge, remove the detergent dispenser and wipe the cavity dry, leave the drawer out to dry on a clean towel, leave the door open, buy a cheapy plastic box fan and place it inside the machine and let it blow air around the inside of the machine for an hour or so to dry it off quickly, run a cleaning cycle at least once a month. If this sounds too involved or difficult, I would suggest switching to a top loading washer that is much less prone to develop mold growth as air can circulate in these types of machines to a much greater extent than the front loaders.

Do & Discover Crystal Growing kit came with 2 spanish ONLY directions...How do we get the right dirsctions so my son can Do & Discover?!

I patiently used Google Translate and got this. The instructions may not be in perfect English, but it's good enough to understand. Good luck :)

GROWING CRYSTALS
1.
experiments require a large measurement cup (at least 32fl oz / 0.9 1) Heat resistant glass mix the powder and boiling water. The vessel measures must be glass or plastic Resistant to heat. You also need a medium saucepan (at least 32 fl oz / 0, 9 1) to boil water. Separate carefully cut molds, as pictured. Make sure to leave a border around each mold. Also remove sharp edges from the edges with scissors.
2.
Use a large glass measure (at least 32 fl oz / 0, 9 1) (not included) to measure 0.68 liters of water and pour into a medium-size saucepan. Heat the pan until the water boils.
3.
Open the bag of potassium sulfate 10 (diamond frosting) with chemical crystal growth and pour the contents into the glass of measures.
4.
Pour boiling water in medium saucepan shot glass with the contents of the bag 10.
5.
Stir the mixture with the big stick until all the grains are completely dissolved chemicals. NOTE: Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes after the grains have dissolved.
6.
placed 2 rocks on the bottom base of the 5-sized plastic molds "C" of growth. These basement rocks should rise only about 3 / 4 "(2cm) from the bottom of mold growth.
7.
Pour the chemical solution / water shot glass molds in size 5 "C" for crystal growth. Make sure to fill each mold in the same way, leave an inch (8mm) of space between the liquid and the edge.
8.
After removing the bottle cap coloring dye, carefully cut with scissors (not included) the tip of the boat. Individual drops slowly drops of dye into the mold of crystal growth. see diagram following Mercedes to mix colors. Once you add the dye mixture solution with the small mixing stick. NOTE: Do not add dye to the mold of a glass. transparent crystals are better for the electronic.
9.
Place the mold of crystal growth in a place where not disturbed by movements or changes in temperature. crystals begin to grow in a matter of hours. let the crystals grow for three or four days without disturbing them. You can then remove the crystals from the solution. For best results, wash the crystals abundantly in the sink to remove excess dye and place on a newspaper or paper towel for a day to dry.
10.
if the mass of rock crystal and the base have been a square shape due to the structure of the mold growth, you can break the remaining crystals that form the block so that the crystalline mass display look more natural from the geological point of view. to expose the glass, LED lights the base by pressing the button on the bottom. transparent glass placed at the base and see how it changes color. if you are not using the base, be sure to extinguish by pressing the button again. to replace the battery, remove the cover with a screwdriver as shown below. NOTE: with the help of a magnifying glass, look closely at the detailed crystal structure of the crystals finalized.
Beak-shaped crystals: follow steps 2-10 with the following changes: In step 2, only 0.34 a boil water. In step 3, use the contents of the bag 11.
In step 6 uses the five molds size "D" of growth of crystals with a single rock in each base.
In step 8 uses color guidelines mold "D" (crystals spike) in the diagram below.
NOTES: replacement of the battery base. Place the base upside down. Now you can remove the battery cover to access it, as shown in the image below.

I AM ALWAYS GETTING MOLD INSIDE THE LG FRONT LOADER. THE RUBBER SEAL IS ALWAYS MOLDY

Hi

Try using bleach with hot water, run a cycle with hot water and bleach. Or spray bleach +water mixture on the seal. Run a cleaning cycle with hot water and bleach or vinegar at least once a month to reduce the growth of mold in other parts of the washer. If the growth is very high then try and leave the door open for 4-5 hours and let it dry and then spray the bleach+water (3:1) mixture on the seal. Let it dry for another 2-3 hours. You may need to change the seal in case of extreme growth of mold. Hope this helps...

How do I get rid of mold on the seal ?

Bleach and water solution will get rid of the mold but will not deter future buildup. To prevent future growth of mold leave door open to dry out. Mold likes to grow in damp dark places. Hope this helps
