5 Handy Steps to Change a TP-Link Wireless Password

Are you using a TP-Link router and don't know how to access a secure wireless connection? If you want to make your router device safe, it's suggested to set a password to your Wi-Fi network so that no one can access your network. Also, verify your device settings to make sure that your network is not vulnerable to attack. This tutorial guideline will help you to change your password without getting the help of the TP-Link Customer service specialist. Here's how to do:

1. Access the Control Panel of your router. For doing that, navigate to the http://192.168.1.1/ in your system web browser.

2. Enter the username and password to access the configuration interface. The 'Admin' is used as by default in both the specified fields.

3. Select the 'Interface Setup' option from above, and then select the 'Wireless' option as displayed in the illustration.

4. Next, change the password under the 'Pre-Shared Key' box.

5. Click the 'Save' button to save and apply settings.

If you need to get more details of each function and settings, you can call at TP-Link Customer care number which is provided by the trusted online telephone directory Contactforhelp and obtain the step-by-step procedure for changing your router password in an effective manner. You can also avail technical support if you have any Internet connection issue with the TP-Link router.

I'm using TP-LINK TD-W8101G ADSL Modem Router to connect internet, I'm trying to connect it with Linksys WRT120N Router Wirelessly. I want to use WRT120N as access point to extend TP-LINK Wireless signal. Here are what i've done. TP-Link IP : 192.168.1.1 DHCP : Enabled Linksys IP: 192.168.1.2 DHCP : Disabled NAT : Disabled Dynamic Routing : Enabled Static Routing Route Name : TP-LINK Destination IP : 192.168.1.1 Subnet : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 Interface : LAN & Wireless

Unfortunately, you can't use two routers together in that manner. You must have a device in between them such as a switch or bridge or you'll have to disable the DHCP server settings in the second router. The second router then pretty much becomes a switch you may then use all the ports on the second router with the exception of the WAN port it must remain unoccupied. However, if you need wireless connectivity in another location far away from your main router then your only solution would be to indeed purchase an actual access point/bridge device

I have lost the security code and have a new laptop, how do i set it up to work

Hi!

If you don't remeber the wireless security code, maybe you still remeber the user and password to access the web management interface of the router.
Then you have to connect the laptop to the router by using a network cable. Open a browser window, type in the IP adress of your router and check the wireless setup section. There you can find / modify the wifi security code.

If you don't know the router's IP adress, then open on your computer a ms-dos prompt and type the command
ipconfig /all

it will display your current IP adress, subnet mask and GATEWAY. The gateway adress is the router's IP adress that must be typed into the browser.

If you don't remember the user and password for accessing the router's web interface, please refer to the router's user manual in order to reset it to factory default configuration, and then proceed as for the first installation of the router.

Hope it helped,

Bogdan

we don't know how to connect the router

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

How can I secure my wireless router

Greetings,

The first step in securing your router is by changing the default administrator password.

Second, choose an encryption type other than WEP. WEP can be easily broken by hackers. This means setting up your router and devices with WPA or WPA2 encryption. The nice thing about this is you can use PSK (Pre Shared Key) which means at all devices you connect to your router with, you only need to know your SSID (Network Name) and your Key to connect. A Key then is like your account password and you should include numbers in it as well to help prevent someone from guessing your password.

Another good idea is to disable ICMP (Which PING uses). Hackers use a Ping to see if something "interesting" is at your IP address. If they get a response they will look further to see what you have and if they can access it.
