Sounds like fan start capacitor may be shot. If you take cover on roof off, have unit shut off, and spin the fan by hand very carefully ,real good and then have someone turn it on immediately after, it will probably start up and run ok, until you shut it off again. Try that once and if it starts and runs, let it run for 10 minutes or so, then shut it off and try without spinning it by hand to see if it will start on it's own. If it does, it may be ok for a while, especially if it had been sitting , not used for a while. I've seen them get a dead spot from sitting and once you restart them they tend to cure themselves and be ok for who knows how long. Remember, Very carefully and quickly get hand away or use a stick if you can.

Let me know the result.

Air conditioner suddenly stops blowing cold and starts blowing heated air. Control panel indicates that it is still on air conditioner. Switching the control from vent to cold does not have any effect. Can turn off the ignition and turn it back on and the air starts blowing cold again. The freon is fine and the compressor works when it is blowing cold. Any ideas?

If you are absolutely confident the AC compressor is not kicking out on low pressure then it is the blend door actuator.

The blend door determines how much air blows through the heater core or evaporator.

The actuator can be purchased at dealer and maybe at a local part store.

Air Conditioner/Heater not working for more than 2 hours.

If you are running it in a very humid envioronment then it will make more water than it can evaporate off.
