Tip & How-To about Refrigerators

Save that expensive water pump

If the pump won't run or won't restart, take it off and soak it over night in light weight engine oil, it worked for me

r and fuel pump choke oil light is on

So if you have a manual pump you have the 2.8 V6 engine.
The choke/oil warning light can be telling you there is a problem with the oil pressure in the engine or the electric choke for the carb.
The defrost won't work right with an ac compressor problem because the compressor runs in defrost mode to dry the air blowing onto the windshield.

I believe you are right about heat induce electrical problem.
About all there is for ignition is the coil and breaker points.

engine oil light flickers

First, are you running the correct oil? You should be running 20W50 weight oil in your engine. The next most likely problem is the oil pressure sending unit. I'd replace that before I'd go tearing into the engine. I don't work on the Twin Cam engine but I think the oil pressure sending unit is located down low on the engine on the right front. There should be a wire connected to it. Make sure that wire is tight.

I have a 1991 dodge ram250 van. When the engine warms up, it dies and the oil light comes on. When I check the oil, it is full. What it is the issue, and how do I correct it?

Anytime and engine dies, or is off, while the ignition key is still in the "run" position then the oil warning light should come on since there isn't any actual oil pressure in an engine that isn't running...so I dont think you have any problems related to that. What you'll need to know to diagnose this problem is if after the engine stalls if it is capable of making spark for the plugs when being cranked over. If it won't produce any spark while cranking then I would suspect the Hall Effect pick-up unit located inside/under the distributor cap as they are somewhat prone to failure and often will quit working when warm but will start working again after they have cooled off a bit. If you have spark when trying to restart the engine then its possible you have a fuel related problem such as a weak or failing fuel pump. Good luck, hope this helps a bit!
