Tip & How-To about Miscellaneous

What should I do when I need to travel with my guitar?

When traveling by car, do not store your guitar in the trunk. The trunk of a vehicle is subjected to more dramatic climatic changes that lead to checking or swelling. Try not to put your guitar in a place where you yourself would be uncomfortable. Therefore, the car interior is a much better choice than the trunk.

how often does synthetic blend oil need to be changed

Depends to the climate you do have and the distance you do have traveling. For my Country Cyprus which is a hot climate between 40-45 celcious I recommend the oil change every 3000 miles not more.

My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a hard time starting after I tow my Mini Light travel trailer in hot weather. What is causing it?

Solenoid is probably overheating, or positive lead to starter is loose, if so, tighten it. You may want to replace starter.

heater wont turn off

More than likely the switch on the climate control panel is bad, most vehicles have a relay behind the or attached to the climate control panel that you can change out. If not you may have to go to a auto parts store or a junk yard for a replacement climate control switch. Hope it helps.

Before removing the stereo you need to ensure that the battery's grounding cable is
disconnected from the negative lead. Most BMW models have the battery housed under
the hood while others (a relative few) store the battery on the left side of the
vehicle in the trunk. Use a 10 mm wrench to loosen the bolt holding the clamp of
the grounding cable around the negative lead.

Use a trim pry tool to remove the vent housing above the stereo.
The vents can be removed to allow access to the stereo or removed completely.
Once the perimeter of the vent housing is loose from the dash, you can feed the
wiring that connects to the hazard light button through the front of the vents.
With the hazard switch pushed forward, simply disconnect the power supply to
completely free the vent assembly.

The climate control group at the bottom of the stereo also needs to be removed to
access the stereo. The climate control housing can be removed by hand. Grab the
climate control at the bottom and the top. Pry from the bottom and remove.
The climate controls do not need to be removed completely. When it is free from
the dash there will be enough slack in the wiring to allow you to place it aside
to access the stereo.

There are two screws that hold the factory stereo in its dock. Those screws,
located on either side of the stereo facing upward, can be removed using
Phillips-head screwdriver. Once the screws are removed, the deck slides forward to
allow access to the wiring at the rear of the stereo. The wire groups at the rear
need to be removed and can be done so in any order. The four wiring groups connect
to the antenna, the amplifier, the speakers, and the power supply (the battery).

If you plan to install an aftermarket stereo, most will be compatible with BMW
wiring. If not, you can connect the wiring groups to a wiring harness adapter
before connecting to the new unit.

Take care and good luck

Z710..after a short time..warning says ''high camara temperature'' and shuts down

That means that your camera will shut down immediately so it doesn't burn out. Are you in an environment where outside temps are super hot, or leaving the camera in the sun or vehicle too long?
It can also happen if the camera is subjected to different dramatic temperature changes, like taking pics in central air conditioning and then go outside in the extreme heat.
