Tip & How-To about Miscellaneous

Slow and poor battery charging - try a new USB lead.

Had my tablet about 2 years, noticed battery began to be very slow to charge and not holding good charge. Checked various forums which suggested such as accesing internal battery connection (after levering tab out of rear cover..not an easy task in itself!) Unplugging and replugging battery connection.. still no better. Also tried clearing cache data in storage. Tried factory reset.. still the same. Found another forum that suggested replacing original USB lead that came with tab and charger originally..bought a decent quality USB lead with correct end for tab.. and all good. Tablet charges to 100% smoothly and quicker than had become common situation. If you are having the same charging problems try a new USB lead.

the kindle won't turn on

It is possible that your Kindle Fire's battery has died. If you noticed the battery life diminishing before it wouldn't turn on at all this may be the case. Here is a site that has replacement batteries for the Kindle Fire:

I have an HP G60-235X that I purchased a little more than a year ago. About 6 months ago, I began to notice less charge life in the battery and a very high temperature from the battery pack. Now, and for the past 3 months, the battery doesn't hold a charge at all and when I do use my laptop (plugged in) the battery gets extremely hot to the point that it can cause skin burn.

You need a new battery. One or more cells is defective. Obviously it's unsafe to continue using a battery pack if it gets hot enough to cause burns, so remove the pack from the computer. You can continue to use the computer on AC power until you get a replacement battery.

You might try contacting HP to see if there's any kind of warranty accommodation they can make. I've found several mentions in various forums about batteries in similar models going bad and that HP replaced them, but they were all within a year of purchase. Can't hurt to ask, though.
