The Scourge Called Liquid Detergent

Liquid Detergent forms a residue in your washing machine that stinks, rots, and causes premature failures of main seals and tub supports all across the land. Switch back to POWDERED DETERGENT, leave the door/lid open when you are not washing, and the disgusting slime-beast within your machine will slowly recede into history... Look closely at the POWDER box, you will see there is an "HE" symbol on it also, so don't listen to the TV, don't use corrosive bleach products to fight the stench! http://0.r.msn.com/?ld=d3Dx0fX_scXMNmkWw6EahlbjVUCUyp215pWotLGHc0kj98K3JHzvPlhUU_r3H6xsiYQxoNyFQ_8mk1IRkPpwR1XYc0CiROgOjAMprl80_1dFXzeEb8-aILvAeWq0CfvOc2PjZbmC6LIWbcCOBKX5fqovkuAH2M_ryaoAhmWnwTiReu655A&u=tide.com%2fen-us%2fshop%3futm_source%3dbing%26utm_medium%3dcpc%26utm_term%3dtide%2520detergent%26utm_campaign%3dTide_Search_Desktop_Brand%2bAwareness.EXM%26utm_content%3dUxtTNDAp%7cdc_11065956863_e_tide%2520detergent%26bai%3dX2031945

I hear water sound when I move the washer basin. Can this be drained without connecting power to the unit?

The sound is most likely the fluid trapped in the counter-balance ring mounted on the spin tub, DO NOT drain it out, you would be unhappy with the results. If you think water in the tub is causing odors and mold, you are wrong. Switch to POWDER and leave the door/lid open when you are not washing, the residue left by LIQUID soaps rots, stinks, and causes tons of premature failures of metal parts in washers all across the land. POWDER is HE also...

i get a very strong smell from my maytag atlantis washer. it smells like the sewer. how do i remove that smell?

Confirm that the sewer trap is working. The sewer trap for a washer is the pipe connection where the washer drain hose connects.

It would not be likely that the trap is a problem. Sewer gas and mold can smell similar. Smell around the hose connection. Some older homes just simply had a drain to the outside

Mold will form in the tub under the basket if it is not run weekly. Normal wash cycle in a top loader should keep under the basket clear. If a week or so occurs between use then the problem can be under the basket at the bottom of the tub. Use bleach, vinegar, or baking soda in moderation to clear.

It is more likely that the problem is around the top of the top. this requires opening the top and swinging it back to get access. Make sure power is removed before attempting.

Cleaning a little bleach, soap and water.
