Have a canon printer (i9900) & the message I'm getting: "waste ink absorber is almost full". What does this mean & what do I do?

Hi

This is a regular maintenance required you to take the printer to service centre to replace the ink-pad present in the printer. Follow the below instruction to keep working with the printer as normal.

First of all remember that these measures are then by the company for protection of ink overflow.

If you can spare some time try to take the ink pads out of the printer and wash them thoroughly so no ink remains in them and then do the below instructions.

1) With the printer powered off, hold down the resume button and press the power button.

2) While holding down the power button, release the resume button and press the resume button twice in succession. Now release the power button. The indicator will blink in green and remain in green.

3) Press resume button 4 times (Green) for Waste ink counter reset.

4) press the power button. The printer will switch itself off after performing the function.

Then you are ready with the printer to work.

Hi Good day!! Try to do a printer maintenance
Cleaning a Clogged Print Head

1. Press the cleaning button located on the front of the printer. Hold it down for 3 seconds to begin the cleaning cycle.

2. Run a cleaning cycle using your Epson printer utilities program. In Windows, go to "Start," "Printers and Faxes," right-click on your printer and choose "Printing Preferences." Select the "Utility" or "Maintenance" tab, depending on your printer model, and click "Head Cleaning." When the head cleaning cycle is complete, run "Nozzle Check." Repeat the head cleaning and nozzle check one to three times.

3. To access the Epson printer utility in OS X, select the Epson Printer Utility icon in the Applications folder in Macintosh HD. If prompted, select your printer from the Printer List, then click "OK."

Clean the print head manually. Remove the ink cartridges from your printer according to the instructions in your owner's manual. Turn off your printer. Dip a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol, ammonia or hot water and rub the swab against the print head. Let the printer sit overnight.

Remove the print head according to the instructions in your owner's manual. Soak the print head for at least an hour in a small dish of hot water or isopropyl alcohol.

Preventing Clogged Print Heads

1. Use your printer at least once a week. Regular use will keep dried ink from clogging your print heads. If you have a color inkjet printer, print full color pages in addition to black-and-white documents.

2. Turn your printer off when not in use. This will prevent warm ink from bleeding onto the print head. If you have to store your printer, remove the ink cartridges.

3. Use a cleaning kit regularly. A cleaning kit usually includes a tube of ammonia that you spray on the printer head to clean dry ink.

I cant print any paper out. it dosent work. something wrong with the paperhead. ive tried to clean up all printer but it dosentwork anyway. to print out pics on a cd works triffic. bt i want to print out photos and regular text paper to. im getting almost angry at this looosyprinter who dosent work.. Gah!

If it prints photos but not regular (black) text. This means the black ink is not flowing at the nuzzle. This usually may not be resolved by just running printer ink head clean up.

What you should do is take out the black ink cartridge, press a folded tissue paper to the nuzzle (where the flows from); if it comes out blotted with ink, it is OK. if not, that's the cause of the problem. So place it in a plate/saucer/bowl with a bit of water so that the nuzzle part is all touching water. Leave it for about 10 minutes. take it out and press a folded tissue paper to it. The tissue should be blotted with black ink. You may need to repeat procedure till the blot is good enough/the flow is good enough. Then return it to the printer and print again.

Black ink print failure after cartridge replaced

The Edge, -Clean the electrical contacts on the printer where the cartridge connects with alcohol. After it dries clean the same contacts with a regular pink, non-abrasive pencil eraser making sure you remove all the debris when done. -Its also possible there is an air bubble preventing the flow of ink. You can try inserting a full cartridge of ink in the printer and letting it sit overnight then running a nozzle clean job or two. Another alternative if you have a syringe you may want to try gently forcing ink into it. If you?re really desperate you can try drilling a small hole into the cartridge to give gravity feeding a hand. BE WARNED the air hole will let ink flow pretty well and you run the chance of making a mess. Before you pull the cartridge out of the printer make sure you cover the hole with tape so the ink doesn?t make even more mess. -Check the cartridge alignment making sure the contacts are mating to the printer. -If it still doesn?t work I would try cleaning your nozzles. Even though I doubt you have clogged nozzles its worth a try because of the following: If you search the Internet you?ll find that this specific model is know for failing to print some or all colors after about 1 ½ to 2 years of use, even with Epson inks. Most of the posts I?ve seen blame it on clogged nozzles but I suspect a good number of them, like yours, have another explanation for their failure. Ink jet printers use resistors to create heat to create a bubble in the ink to eject it out of the nozzle (Bubble jet) or in the case of Epson, vibrating crystals push ink into and out of the nozzles (piezoelectric). We?ve already cleaned the electrical contacts and cleaned the nozzles so what remain are defective nozzles, short between the nozzle and the controller board or a defective controller board. Since the printer is only worth 1 or 2 hundred dollars repairs at a shop or buying these repair parts can easily exceed ½ its cost. Hope something here works for you, I just recently had to toss a great printer too. Let us know what happens and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
