Tip & How-To about Building Materials

Garage door won't stay closed

Simple step. If your garage door will not stay down & keeps reversing, Try cleaning the electric eyes on either side of the door. Be sure that they are still lined up to each others sight & that there is nothing obstructing their view.
If all else fails you can usually pull the overhead cord & lift the door manually. (in case of a power outage.) Hope this helps someone & saves them a little money.

I am having the same problem the garage door won't stay down. I have leveled the sensors light beams and make sure that nothing was in the path. I have the model where the light is on front end toward the garage door. I havae adjustment the setting on the left side with no results. I have also adjusted the settings on the back without sucess. I am at a loss what to do. You would think that it would be simple to adjust.

The lights sensors are not the problem.

Garage door will reverse direction automatically if it contacts the hood of your car or a bicycle. Your garage door is coming too far down, impacting the concrete, and then reversing.

The fix is simple.

You need to adjust the tripper switch just above the garage door. When the door is closing, it trips a little lever that's attached to the center rail. It's just a little flipper with 2 wires connected to it.

Move this flipper switch back tower the closer mechanism about 3 inches >>> try garage door again >> and then adjust location of flipper until garage door works just right.
