Tip & How-To about Office Equipment & Supplies
I had a broken lead jamming up the hole in a ipoint orbit mechanical pencil sharpener. This is what worked for me. You will need a long sharp needle or a straightened out paper clip. Alternatively, you can get a pick and hook test probe in a hardware store for less than $4. Loosen up the donut cap and remove the shavings collector. Now, you will be able to see the drill-like thing that rotates and sharpens the pencil. Hold it down. It depress a bit and gives a little bit of wiggle-room. Now, use the needle to jiggle around the broken lead. Give it a few tries...it will loosen up. Tilt the sharpener body upside down and gently tap, it will fall right off! Good Luck!
